Has anyone played both? I love the shape of the Chubtone, which are not as flat as a current Charvel. Charvel necks for me are too damn flat. What are the neck shapes like on the Luxxtone as compared to the Chubtone? I'm not asking about thickness, rather the shape of the back of the neck.

Not radius, sorry. Shape of the back of the neck.

I knew what u meant FR. I used to think Charvel had the best shape for me bar none. But I’ve found as I’ve gotten older I’m starting to like a bit thicker and more of a “C” shape now. I think it’s an old guy thing.

Check out the Nitro series Charvels. The necks are beefy but very comfortable. They are 21 fret necks so that may or may not be an issue.

I'm looking into a Luxxtone, which is why I'm asking specifically about their necks

I agree - I used to love my necks ‘Wizard Thin’ - but as I’ve gotten older, I prefer a ‘slightly’ more substantial profile. I think Warmoth’s ‘Standard Thin’ is darned near perfect: .800 at the first fret and .850 at the 12th.

This x 1000000. I have three nitros and the necks are killer. The specs are around .830" Profile at 1st Fret and .880" Profile at 12th Fret. All three are very similar in size. I can’t play the regular necks now because of it. ?

What’s the difference between your nitro profile vs the 08/09 USAs? Those are near perfect for me…and are not as flat/wide as my 84 San Dimas HH; that profile seems pretty consistent with the other original 80s Charvels I’ve owned.

The nitros are thicker in the back and just feel better in my hands. They neck carve is taken from a 1980 Charvel prepro. The Nitros are also 2 3/16th at the heel (vs 2 1/4). To keep it on topic, Luxxtone will make a shape similar to the nitros.

All of the necks on my nitros have birdseye, but my blue one is insane. Tone is in the neck ?

I don’t know about technical dimensions, but my 2 nitros are the best playing to me hands down of the 7 Charvel’s I currently have and I like the latest Yellow I got even more than the Dakota red one for playability. With those 2 it’s not just the neck for me, but also the frets that make it so sleek playing. I’m a big fan of Birdseye (my fave) and imo even better when roasted. Still jealous of that green one you have haha

I hear that about the Nitros. The early 80s Charvels had thicker and rounder necks than they do now. Not too big and round, but for me it was a better profile for my hands. I think that's what Chubtone does too.

Chubtone offers 3 different sizes

#1 standard thin .800-.850
#2 modern C .810-.880
#3 vintage C .830-.920
