Got a new to me 2012 quickrod
the amp has massive power trans and caps so is it these that make it have small hum when at idle... Not out of the speakers its just a light hummmmmmmm. I had a dsl that did this and another marshall. Amp sounds great just wanna make sure its normal I cant remember from my last QR. The amp itself is very quiet.

guess its ok from what I read on the pt's its not bothersome or really loud just faint /humming current vibration.

I have had 2 Quick Rods and most recenly a Street Rod. All of them produced a low hum even when on standby.

Thanx man, scott said new tranny on side has some hum,,, still bad ass amp

yep mine has a slight hum as well, never really payed any attention until I read this thread! Mine a 2009

My old QR hummed way more than my 2012. But one day my 2012 was humming like a bitch. It was a new practice studio we rented for the day to rehearse an upcoming show. Sometimes power regulation in buildings affects the hum. This goes for my house too. Sometimes at night my 5150 hums a lot...other times of the day it is fine.

I'm wondering if it's the high gain chinese tubes. I had Mullard power and JJ pre's in my 07 and it was very quiet.

Sounds like you are referring to Power transformer mechanical noise. Perfectly normal. All trannies hum :D

This doesn't sound like any of the 50 sum amps ive had over the years lol thus scott said it is due to the new transformer layout
