just my opinion, but i liked when JNorum sat in with dokken because he plays his own signature feel and approach..this guy is a total lynch copy, great player, but I'd rather see Norum any day over Levin. Those Euro-Cats have that strong melodic sense and cool bluesy stuff.

Sorry Brother, Id have to humbly disagree. Norum playes in a style of whoever he was listening to at the time. I have Recordings of him where he copied licks that were directly lifted from Gary Moore,Lynch,Yngwie,ETC.ETC. I think he is a great player but on most of his recording you definitely knew who Norum was listening to at the time and it showed in his playing. I don't think that he found his own voice until years later.

As far as Levin being a Lynch copy, there is no denying that he was going for a Lynch vibe on that disc even although he denied it in interviews lol.
I grew up watching Levin play in clubs and he's always had a Lynch/EVH style. To be honest with you , he is not playing up to his ability in Dokken. The shit that he used to pull off live back in the 80's was mind-bending.

yep, i know that levin guy can do some shit, i heard him playing in the back room at Bogner a few years back and he can definitely rip it up. And u r correct about JN copying those dudes, i guess its the songwriting that i dug and love Norum's vibrato. I saw levin and norum both with Dokken and enjoyed norums performance over Levin's....matter of taste. I remember he played a Black Les Paul all night through MArshalls and it was just powerful and yet played soulful.

what the hell is Norum up to these daze anyway?

A

Sup Ant!
Don't get me wrong, I love Norum but I've always thought that he played other peoples styles on some of his albums and it was just to noticeable to me.
With that said, I'm pretty sure that Norum is back palying with Europe. I know that he did a new album with them and few gigs with them and I think they are recording a new album.

Yup you are correct!! They've had 2 albums out since 2004 and i think John's been working on a Solo album!

Nope! He is back in Europe as Dan confirmed!!

I heard that Kee was doing a band thing in Sweeden. I have his last solo disc called melon demon devine or something like that lol! It has some cool tunes and some killer playing. Kee definitely has some Eric Johnson type pentatonic licks down!! not so sure about his singing though lol (he sings on the album!)

I really dug what Kee would do in the beginning of his solo spot live back in the Europe days. He used to do a bit of a slow melodic thing before going all out into flight of the bumblebee. The bumblebee bit didnt do much for me, but his feel-playing was always melodic and enjoyable to listen to!

Some of my favorite Europe guitar parts are written by Kee Marcello!

On the topic of Kee.. didnt he used to use Tommy Folkesson modded Marshalls at some point?
