Liii vs. petrucci

My music man gas is getting the better of me. I have a chance to get a pretty good deal on an L3 or a Petrucci. Both are new and significantly discounted. I really don't have a need for the Piezo and have heard of Petrucci necks twisting. Both sound good, feel good, and work great clean and distorted. What would you choose? Assume the same color and same price. The L3 has the solid rosewood neck, which I think ispretty cool
 
Tough one, both great guitars. I did really like the Luke I played recently, great tones and the onboard boost is very cool.
 
I dig the LukeIII neck more, bit thicker neck and the vintage style trem is great! is the petrucci a maple top model?
 
I dig both guitars but I dig the liii a lot more. I just sold a jp6 and I don't think I could ever sell the luke III. Nothin like a rosewood neck
 
The Petrucci I'm looking at is being sold used, even though it's basically new. The reason being sold as used is the original neck twisted so the dealer sent it back to Music man

Wow....that probably a rare case. I wonder how the hell that could happen.
 
Any of the Petrucci models are great. With the exception of the Majesty, I've had a chance to play them all. I went with the BFR (actually sold my JP6 to get it). One of my all time favorite guitars, regardless if you are a Petrucci or DT fan.
 
I played them both back to back this weekend and went with the Luke. The JP6 is the sky blue, and is a cool color. Were priced exactly the same and the Petrucci has more features, but the Luke just felt better. It sounds awesome not even plugged in, and I really bond with the neck. I hated prior Luke necks but this one feels just right.

Great choice. Full rosewood neck too!!! Nothing else like it.

interesting, i would have said Petrucci hands down. clearly a question of preference that only you were going to be able to make. nice EBMM! miss my JP12
