Line 6 HX FX ... the new g-system finally?

If this unit would separate the brain from the footswitch, that would be killer. The G was, and still is, ahead of the game. Well, maybe not anymore.......but it is still the coolest multi effect unit ever, looks so awesome, built like a tank, big cant miss buttons.... If tc would just update it, or come out with a new version with effect routing capability, better reverbs, etc... They would be on top again.

I just cant understand them with this......

But yeah, i ve been checking this HX unit out lately, very cool unit. The separation thing though, why don't more company's do it? So convenient.

I agree - TC seems to be behind the curve of these guys when it comes to multi FX units like this. They should revamp the G system and make it cooler.

What is the separation thing?

With the g system you could pull the brain off of the foot controller and put it in a rack. Use one cable to connect to the brain and could make all other connections using shorter cables etc...

Definitely looks cool. I've always wanted to try the Gsystem, but just could never justify it with having my AxeFxII. Probably the same with this, but it does like pretty damn cool.

I already have a full Helix, so this would be over kill for me...however, since I only use it for effects and IR hosting (no modeling in other words), this would really be perfect.

Like emg77 mentioned, putting the brain in my rack is just soooo convenient with everything plugged in with short cables, pedal shelf, power amp for wdw, rack wah, tuner...... I love it.

If fractal could put out an effect only rack module based on their Axe III platform.......damn it......that would be killer.

I wouldn’t mind this.

I assume at this point digital drive pedals are solid? I would just need an SD-1 type thing

Does this Helix have a Univibe worth a darn?

I actually really like the Univibe. The drives are indeed solid.

^ thanks!

I just use a drive, boost, delay, and Univibe. Most inexpensive multiFX can’t seem to get the Univibe to be passable. I’d probably continue to use a normal wah.

I think Andy shows it on the Reverb.com Tone Report vid. I'll see if I can find it or I can make a clip tonight.

Helix rack for that, of course it's a lot more dough.

I had the FX for 3 days last week. It brought an ocean of noise underneath my high gain tone. Yes, it was hooked up correctly. I've had an FX8 and an ms3 before that worked fine. There are reports of a "bad batch" of units (1 out of 20?), so not sure if that's what occurred here.Regardless, I always hated line6 so later on crap unit.

I winded up going back to the ms3 and powering it with a wireless Volto. Sounds decent. Fractal sound destroys it, but the ms3 is such a small and cheap wireless package. I'll jam this unit the next Fractal comes out.

I see a LOT of posts on the Facebook Line 6 groups about units breaking and I think over the past few years I've maybe 2 or 3 people on a Fractal page bring something up.

If Fractal gets a UI facelift then game over. You know they should be able to do it. I like the AX8 and Axe-Edit is easy but I DON'T want to have to use a laptop to adjust parameters. Yes, you CAN use the AX8 panel but it's a pain in the balls.

^agreed

The next fx8 mkiii should be cheaper than mkii, have an improved display, smaller footprint, and have more horsepower to drive multiple reverb/delay needs

Or perhaps an ax mkii with improved 4cm connections and the above

I'm sure that will happen in 2019...no proof, just my hopeful spidey senses

I've been using the HX FX regularly playing live and in rehearsals since August. It has been great! Love how easy to use it is and the fx on it. I'll be very interested to see if Fractal comes out with another version of their FX unit at some point. If it is anything like my axeIII, it will be amazing as well.
