Seriously everyone should go to the site and listen to the Divided by 13 ,Fender twin .Basement blus I am listening through studio monitors and you can feel it kicking ..it really does not sound like aPOD as I remember .they definetly have something going on there

Those videos sound absolutely god awful. Go to www.line6.com/podhd and listen to the sound clips there. Many of them have too many effects or are dialed badly in typically Line 6 fashion, but I feel like you can hear a LOT of potential in this thing from those clips.

there are potentially a lot of god tones ,.the Basement blues thing and the twin have a really good snap to them when the pick hits the string

I tell ya, no one knows how to demo gear right.
1) lots of playing, less talking
2) play SIMPLE stuff people recognize
3) and for god sakes ya gotta make it sound good, i.e. record it right, nice and loud and in your face, not down like -12db... and tweak the sounds til they are really "there"

There's no 2nd chance to make a 1st impression.

True....

I think this vst sounds better than line 6's new stuff & its free

another "freebie"

That's basically what I use for demoing. I'll take the free shit any day.

God that sounds like shit!

I think it would definitely sound better if it was more expensive and more semi-famous artists endorsed it

I have to say, after some modded amps and other high end stuff I still enjoy my Line6 (I did put some nice Celestions in it) Flextone II XL combo very much and would need a"moment" if it ever dies on me. And yes I crank my tube amps up, I have the tinnitus to prove it.
I'm looking forward to checking this new stuff out.

Sad, but true...

I hear ya. Now let's just say if this product demo had a different name in disguise, a well known boutique amp builder or modification expert and this was their product, I'm sure there would be a lot of "this thing will bring the pain" comments.

Since I am not a well know boutique builder or modification expert and I don't have a product I guess this doesn't apply to me. If it does then thanks for putting me into that realm. If not then I guess I should have said I don't like how it sounds, being much more neutral! :bash:

Ditto

after reading comments posted in that Marshall JMD vid thread, I though to myself - these people should hear some of these sims sent into Marshall Power Amp & Cab

tube preamps will eventually be replaced by microprocessors & software

but tube power amps are here to stay

I think the DT50 sounds promising.
I like how you can link the amps together with a standard XLR cable and incorporate the HD pedals with it.

It just cracks me up how LINE6 were once paving the way for new technology and now they are grabbing other company's ideas to stay relevant.

Example is the tweaking simplicity. Their POD series started out simple and it became more difficult to tweak over the years. I think they saw a product like the Eleven Rack and decided it was time to go back to the drawing board so to speak.

One thing that irritates me is how they always give you just enough amps to make you want to purchase. We know they have way more amp models available but they only give you 16. What if you love the Uberschall but hate those particular other 15? That is why the Axe-Fx is so popular. You have so many amps to play with.

The headshell on the DT50 looks like a Marshall Plexi headshell, which I actually like better.

i've been hopeful for line 6 to step up their game for a long while. i bought and used the original pod live when it first came out, and have mixed countless line 6 users since their introduction, from axs combos to POD proXTs to flextones to tons of players with the dl4, and more recently the M13.

i had the M13 for a month because it was such a functionally powerful tool, but just could not bring myself to accept what it did to my tone, nor buy into the claims of what effects it was trying to emulate, despite being told so many pros love it.

my friend also had an M13, and is a line 6 devotee, but it kept losing his presets so he got rid of it. he is now on his 3rd dl4 delay as the prior 3 stopped working. that's nuts to me but he loves the tone and function enough to keep going back.

in light of all of that, i did like some of the tones i got from the alchemist, and i think i'm hearing a higher quality of tones from the new product clips on their site. i wouldn't mind owning the floor HD as a backup for my axefx if it's all that.

This forum, honestly. donbarzini has hit the nail right on the head and this thread just serves to remind me why I take everything I read on internet guitar forums with a gigantic grain of salt.

The clips on the website... tell me how they sound bad? If they were posted on the Fractal website, I doubt there would be so much negativity. I'm not trying to say they're the best thing I've ever heard but there is definitely some potential in those tones. The high gains I didn't care for so much but I never use those tones so I couldn't care less how they sound. I thought the Dr Z model sounded really good and the cleans have improved big time. Hopefully the Marshall and Park models are as good.

Can't really judge from a compressed YouTube vid through computer/laptop speakers or earbuds. I have heard alot of premier world vids that sound like crap and even guitar world. Give it to Samhill (Mark Day) and let him play with it a week and record a vid, bet they fly off the shelves. Evryone will be saying how awesome it sounds and they are gas'n for one.

If the effects are better than the M9/13 because of "HD" then I would pay that just for the effects.

Sorry, WAT? I guess everyone is looking for hugely gained out, unnatural, overcompressed tones? I thought a plus-side of this new Pod was dynamics?

So how do you select the different amp models and effects on the DT50???

I think the DT50 may show some potential......I'd like to try it myself.

I wish the clips would just feature playing through the sounds rather than talking through most of it. Put that stuff on the bottom for me to read. I just want to hear the sounds!!!!
