The difference being that the custom box has a level control to adjust the signal being sent to the wet rig you are driving. The Suhr doesn't have a level control. Not sure how much difference it makes in the overall scheme of things. But, I would imagine some older FX preamps or things like a PQ3 can be better controlled by limiting the signal being sent to them.

I must say that Wiseblood's schematic makes it tempting to try building one myself. I'd want it for a 16ohm cab, I need to figure that part first, otherwise it looks easy..
Yes it does. I was cleaning out some of my crap yesterday and ran across one and saw that it did have a compensated level........MY BAD to the OP. Sorry.......I got CRS (can't remember shit)!
CAll me crazy but why dont you just get a hotplate which can be used for other things as well, or ebay a cheap H&K redbox pro and USE THE WET AMP VOLUME for your levels?
