I’ve been running a WDW setup for a while with a Matrix power amp and MLC mixer. I’m curious where most people are running the line out level on their amps. I’ve been running my Wizard MTL line out knob at around 12 o clock, maybe slighty more. Seems to sound the best that way. I never really knew if there’s any rhyme or reason to setting it higher or lower or what is technically, “correct.”

I’m using the exact same set up as you and that’s about how I set the line out on my Wizard. If your FX unit can control the input gain I guess it doesn’t really matter. What FX unit? I’ve been using an MPX1 and an Eventide H9. I just got an Axe 3 though, but I really haven’t had time to get it set up yet

I’m running a TC G major, which surprisingly sounds pretty good. I keep the input and output levels on that unit right at half way as well. I think I got the MLC from you. It’s nice having the mixer for additional adjustability.

I’ve been wanting to get an H9 just for that Van Halen WDW detune tone. I love that sound, but as far as I know, the G major can’t do it. Do you run the H9 inline with your other fx unit?

Edit: Just did some research and it appears the G major can do the detune thing. Anyone have tips on the best way to set it up?

Ok I’ve really never played with the G major much but found the pitch setting right on the front. I created a new preset. Detune at L -12/ R +12 cents, delay L 6ms and R 3ms, mix 100% sounds pretty damn good.

Nice. I don’t remember selling you the MLC. Lol. I had 2 of them at the time. Yeah I was running both FX units at the same time, but mostly just using one or the other. I like the H9 Space/Tine algorithm the best
