DC, yes.
I'm pretty proud actually that its so low noise, just look in the vid how close I'm sitting to that fucker with 65% of max. gain :D

Just checked the MP3, and I don't think it's buzzy. Lead tone sounds really nice! What do 6V6GTs sound like? I've never played an amp that used them before.

It is buzzy :gethim:

Thanks my friends !

6V6GTs sound bell-ish, lots of high treble and sweet mids, those JJs I'm using are pretty close to 6L6s, they can handle pretty high voltages (for being 6V6GTs).

I've used them for two reasons:
- I wanted to build the clean channel of a Dlx Rev, which must have 6V6s
- to try something different than my standard 50 or 100 Watt "Marshall" EL34 driven poweramp

Must be cool to have an stereo amp with one side 6V6 and the other EL84s - gives me an idea . . .

I was thinking the same thing!! :D I was planning on building my JCM800 into a 4gain stager... i can start on it as soon as i get a few new reels of wire. Im low on supplies right now.

I might consider going with DC heaters on that amp if its gonna benefit a lot from it!!

Bah....draw up a super champ with 12ax7's ;) :D

Dude that sounds amazing! Seriously, are there any amps that come close that sound and configuration???? I would love to have a 20w two channel 6v6 that sounds like that! Any recommendations? Would you consider building one for someone here in the states?

Thanks guys !

I'm honored to be asked to build an amp, but its way too expensive. The parts are approx. 300 Euros without the headshell (another 100 me thinks). Thats 600 $ - and then there's shipping, wich is another 200$. Thats a lot of money for a DIY amp, no?

I'm pretty sure that east european and chinese companies (just look at the Epi 5 Watter) will offer omething like this soon for 300-400 bucks :)

Olaf, it sounds great! And I`m joining the bandwagon, it`s NOT buzzy :gethim: :D

sounds amazing!
you still making the Panther preamp? i remember it sounded really really good

Thanks man !

Not anymore, its a pain in the ass to drill all the holes for pots.
You can buy a very cool, midi-controlled DIY preamp-kit though (based on the SLO - tweaks available) from http://www.musikding.de.

Merci Randy - I'd say my headshell manufacturer knows what he is doing  :D ;) :)

Here's Little Joe (the new DIY 20 Watter) - don't take it too serious, the clean is clipping and its my first attempt with cam from the MacBook/firewire/two mics and such :D

(vid)

here's a mp3 of the lead channel - still too buzzy me thinks - anyway:

Not sure if I leave the plexi-glas, maybe I'll use real glas.
The headshell is way too high, I'll get a "matching" one in two weeks - but IMO its pretty nice looking :)
