I get 2-3 beers on every break and take them on stage with me. I usually drink 10-12 beers each gig. Sometimes, I'm pretty sloshed up by the end of the last set, but I do a fairly good job of playing it off most of the time.

This is me too.

At least 2 before I go on. And usually 2 per set or more. Sometimes way too many more.

If I go on sober, when I look off the stage, all I see are Rig-Talkers and HCAF'ers...and it makes me want to quit guitar, by using it to smash everybody's face in.

3 beers in, all I see are boobies....not critics....I may get sloppier, but overall I play much better relaxed...and have a way better stage persona.

I've had far too many gigs that were pathetically embarrassing due to booze tho. Lots. But, sometimes you crash and burn. I can't do it sober, and wouldn't even want to play out if I couldn't party.

Coke wears off too quickly to toot before gigs. I'd be trying to score more by the first talk break.

At home, I only drink Diet Dew.

I dunno.

Actually, as much as I party when I'm not playing gigs, I stay completely sober until after the show. It makes me play MUCH better.

This is me too. Definately no talking to Bob Marley (actually gave this up all together) or drink before a gig. I've been there done that and and its not pretty. Even after the show I only have a couple cause Ive turned into a light weight as Ive gotten older. :D

Not a drinker but I normally pound down one beer, take a piss, wash my hands in hot water - it's f-ing cold here in winter! Usually nurse a beer through the set.

I seem to play pretty good when drunk, but I suspect its really the beer goggles over my ears :D

I always used to have a beer or two before the show. But lately I've done a lot of afternoon festival kinds of gigs and I don't like to drink when the sun is up so I got used to playing with no alcohol, so I don't drink before any gig anymore. It was weird at first but no big deal anymore.

A couple beers before and a few more while playing. It does help me feel more comfortable on stage. Being nervous hinders my playing more than a few beers does.

I still get nervous...don't know why. I still suck and know that. I'm just out there to have fun.

I wish I had a cool story about how much I can drink, but honestly I play like shit when I get a few beers in me. Not that the stuff we play is hard...I just don't like getting hammered and trying to "time" my pedals and channel switching.

vodka tonic
have soundman play "ça plane pour moi" as the last song before we go on
take stage with a cold Corona in hand
between songs ask someone in crowd to get me another Corona
get trashed watching the other bands

Heh. I used to chug a ton of water about 15 min. before showtime. About 60 seconds prior to us playing I would jump and psych myself out, get as much energy going as possible. I would only be nervous during the first 30 seconds pretty much, so I would focus on something, maybe what I was playing, but typically just one spot on the wall behind the crowd if it were close enough to see. Zone out and play for 30 seconds, then rock out! :D

Hmmmm Generally as far as drinking I have a 3 beer limit before I hit stage. Then when I get on stage I just drink as much as I want, but I usually dont drink much as I find water much more refreshing when its so hot. The three beers before help kill the anticipation and anxiety.

As for before show routine....I like to do a whole lot of stretching. Especially my neck and back, those tend to hurt the worst the next day. But not much else besides that and well warming up of course.

2-3 most of the time. Depends on how early we are and when in the line up we play. I'm pretty good about knowing where I'm at. I know I suck playing drunk, so I just avoid it. Don't drink on stage alot of the time. Just water, will occasionally have a beer. You never know when shots might start coming to the stage....or how many   That's why I usually don't drink while playing on stage....if you're drinking the whole time and then you end up with 6-7 shots during the set - things can get ugly quick. When we were sponsored by Jagermeister, we played a show with 2 bottles on stage once :aww:

3 beer limit before hitting the stage, unless we're on really late, then it's a 4 beer limit. Much more than that, and the brain and hands can't hear eachother over the blaring amp. Then they start arguing about the order of the notes - it ain't pretty.

Don't play out stoned - that's for writing...

I find having sex before a show really messes up my playing. I play better trying to get pussy than if I’ve already got it.

Actually, yea....that is very true.

I don't drink and besides, we get paid pretty good money to be on the ball.

Gotcha, but don't think for a second that me drinking 6-8 beers affects the show in a bad way. Absolutely not.

Now the last set when I'm on 10-12 beers is another story.

Wasn't judging anyone...just my personal preference. ;)

when i was touring last summer with the fag wanna be pop heavy rock assholes i was playing bass with. I would have a 12 pack in me between pre sho-end of show. they thought they were rock gods so that was my fuck you. doing something i actually care about.....IF i drank at all, it would be tops 2 beers and a shot pre show and water on stage. never weed. it alters my perception of reality too much.

I don't drink or smoke anymore so that's out...if I didn't warm up i'd be fucked, not that it always helps anyway but...

I'm all about a few Coke Zero's and getting pumped up first. I can't drink first.

im pretty solid on saving party time for after the gig. My rock band is a bit too complicated to risk it.  after the gig, bring on the booze and ladies...or just the ladies :D
peace
