Real OG
Here are a couple of recent videos with my band. I'm using an OG Tone King Imperial 1x12" Combo, Xotic BB Preamp, and either an AVRI '52 RI Tele (Butterscotch) or and AVII '63 RI Tele (red with mahogany body.)

What do you guys think of this guitar tone? I use three main tones with that amp on the Rhythm channel.

  1. Wampler EGO Comp > RC Booster > Blackface channel running clean - Country tones (may have clips in the near future)
  2. BB Preamp > amp - Classic rock tone (these clips)
  3. OCD > amp - Harder rock tones (may have clips in the near future)

Great tone man

That little Tone King packs a punch. Is it mic'ed though? Looks like it in the video.

Also, I think I've been to that venue before. Is that north of St. Charles?

Thanks man! That first venue is in Cottleville, but that other is North of St Charles on the river like you said.

It’s not yet mic’ed in that pic, but it is on the videos. I just took the pic before a 509 was hanging over the top.

This is a new rig for me that I bought just for this band to be a little more authentic. I’m digging it!

sweet man - so you have a dual humbucker tele?
Yeah, it's a new GC exclusive. Roasted maple neck, black hardware, locking tuners, Seymour Duncan JB and '59 Model pickups, sandblasted finish, and the surprising part is that it's chambered. It plays soooooooooo well. :)

They had this "smoke" color one and I bought it. They also have a natural color, which I kinda wish I got instead, but whatever I guess. lol

The playing is good. Great chops on guitar. Vox are excellent. Cant hear the bass at all. But im not there.
IDK man im a 1/2 stack guy minimum for outside gigs. Actually prefer 2x 1/2 stacks stereo so the amps don't have to work so hard.
Did you ever add a 2nd string guitar ?
I first got to St. Charles county in 1982. Population of O'fallon MO was 11K. Now its almost 100K
Don't recognize it out there anymore.
Good to cya out there.

Thanks Dan. I still have a Marshall 1960BV and a 2x12" with old Marshall "Vintage" speakers. Both sound killer and I prefer a bigger setup like that too. But I'm having a good time experimenting with a lightweight 1x12" and pedals! I actually think this rig is perfect for this band and plan to keep on with it for a bit.

I also play quite a bit with a different band (Jukebox Heroes) doing hard rock covers. I usually use the 2x12" and a Mezzabarba 100-watt head for those outdoor gigs. :)

You sure have had some killer gear over the year and of course creating the format were on.
Authentic Americana.

Thanks! I hate it too, but everyone does it now. Urgh.
I play in a function band where we actually pay the singers a bit more for NOT using an iPad. Typical singers though isn't it, when they're not showing up with a pen and paper for the setlist (The only thing they have to bring usually) they're googling the lyrics to songs they've heard a million times already!

Interesting that you pay them a little more for memorizing the lyrics! I didn't know that was a thing.

I hate to admit this, but I can't remember all of the lyrics to a SINGLE F'ING SONG. ha ha... I suck bad at that. I can remember all the guitar parts to 100 songs, but not lyrics. I can't even imagine being able to do that for all songs.

Nice! I dig the red tele tones the best.

Dude I had an OCD for a few years and I gotta say it was one of the best pedals Ive ever owned. It just covers so much ground, and boosting it brings you some serious dirt. I actually ditched all my distortion pedals because of it.

Yeah, shame we have to bribe singers to do half of their job tbh haha! I used to sing a lot of songs in one of my bands and just tried to remember the lyrics as a story really.

Anyway, great sound more importantly dude!

Would you say it's a great solo boost pedal?

That tone sounds great in that band context for sure. Nice and fat. Cuts great but not shrill or pokey. Nice playing too..
