Logic Pro 9 is going to be interesting...to say the least

After using Sonar exclusively since version 3 and becoming pretty familiar with how to accomplish what I wanted with it, LP9 is going to present a bit of a learning curve. I must say though, I did accomplish a goal today: get my interface working and record some guitar to experiment with. I'm not even going to bother installing my software instruments/synths yet.....I need to grasp some difficult concepts first, like how to rewind.

I'm still using Logic Pro 8. It seems pretty easy so far. We are getting some great results with it.

See if you can find some Logic training/tutorial videos. They helped me immensely.

Yes it is. I still haven't scratched the surface in that respect.

I'm learning my way around OSX....becoming more comfortable with it everyday. Logic, though, just seems really foreign. I'll figure it out.

I went from cubase LE on a windows box last year to an IMAC with logic 9.

all these programs work the same in terms of selecting your input, arming a track, and recording. There are a lot of features you will get famaliar with over time...

couple things on the MAC... disable Spotlight from constantly indexing your drive, and never turn on Time Machine while you are recording.

If you need any tips let me know.. I have a few hundred hours recording in Logic now

couple things on the MAC... disable Spotlight from constantly indexing your drive, and never turn on Time Machine while you are recording.

Spotlight still have indexing issues? I've had that turned off since 10.5. It wasn't bad on 10.4 and before, but when 10.5 came around, it was ridiculously laggy. I figured they fixed it up by now, but I never use the thing, so I just kept it off.

What is Spotlight?

It's the search feature in OS X. See the upper right hand icon with the magnifying glass? That's spotlight. If you go into System Preferences and click on the Spotlight icon, you can turn it off by unchecking everything there. I also went into Spotlight's privacy setting and added my hard drives to prevent Spotlight from ever searching anything, just for extra measure. This isn't for everyone, however. If you don't know your way around the OS, it would be wise to keep it on.

Ah..now I know. I know alittle bit, but not much. So far I can use Logic, Safari, iPhoto and iMovie...and can find the calculator when needed!
