Well, regardless of wtf it is you went through, mic'd, lined-in, POD'd, I still think it's a ripping clip with a hot tone - sounds like it went through little p/p if any, and BAM, history was made, er, is made, um, is being made. It's a classic sound - a sound that many songs we've all heard and loved are based on...and that ain't a bad thing IMHO.

Fuck, all I know is I've seen and heard 100s of clips here and on YT of amps, cabs, everything - and I'd say only 10% of them actually piqued my curiosity enough to pipe in and say "heeeeeey, alright - nice clip and tone!!". Your playing is what had me jiving and boogying on this end   Kept me entertained and surprised, and that added to the fact I thought it sounded "within that 10% of :2thumbsup: clips" out there.

Keep it up Bob, whatever them other distractions are, do make some time to keep it up. I've been away from playing for almost 3 years and this is the fuel that makes me plug in now. So put that in yer direct-in POD-like pipe and smoke it :D

Thanks man, this seems way too generous but if this really does inspire you to play, I've accomplished far more with it than intended and quite frankly, am honored by your comments.

Now, let's get back to this whole obviously direct sound thingie...

Thank you for posting the clip. I responded too harshly, my apologies.I had high hopes for a d I preamp to sound like a real amp being properly recorded, but it's just not there yet, maybe never.there are a couple other owners that expressed the same disappointment in the direct sound online. Thru an amp it sounds a lot better.
Why be upset at that? It's not like you designed it. DI has always sounded worse.
Can u do a mic'ed recording through a power amp and cab for comparison? I suspect you'll hear the difference.

Now I think we are getting somewhere.

On second listen, I hears the directs as well! :D

I'm not surprised. You posted that there is no audible difference in cables in your opinion, on another thread. Your ears are untrustworthy.....how do manage to make good sounding amps with those ears? I can't build amps though, so kudos for you.

Someone piss in your cereal this morning, sweetie or is it just that time of the month?

Resorting to insults so soon? Not able to retort? I struck a nerve with that bad ear comment,Pretty boy.
Look at that pic of you in the 80's and tell me who wore a tampon?

I'm sorry, but I believe you have mistaken me for someone who finds you or your opinions in any way significant.

That's, ironic because you responded. You're too easy. Have a nice evening.

Shit Bob, I'm lucky to get to do what I do! Sometimes though, it's inconvenient...

What have you been up to since closing down the wood shop? Still rocking some P-90s these days?

It had some boogie and groove to it... Kept me surprised. Having music that keeps me surprised is hard to come by, so ya, stop being humble and realize it was a tasty kickass clip

DI, mic'd, modeller, whatever - get the grunt of the tone to the forefront of that mix and it's not up for debate. It'll just be kickass. Sounds pretty smooth and subtle right now, throw a set of teeth on it and see where it goes.

I'm into it. I like surprises.

I didn't have a lot of time so could only do something without accompaniment.

GPDI miced with power amp and cab

This sounds so good. Much better than the first clip. I would just use it this way moving forward.

I don't even try to guess at the "name the amp" threads; my ears must not be as "good" as others, because I'm generally wrong. I can easily pick out certain tonal characteristics, but usually can't figure out what amp/device/recording chain was used. For the most part, I just listen and enjoy and applaud the effort. So...
