alright fellas...im looking at possibly getting an Einstein Combo. I currently am using a Splawn Streetrod. Killer amp great Marshall Tones...BUT it is fickle. Sounds good sometimes , great others... and i miss the DIEZEL TONE!!

how does the Einstein stack up say to The SR?? Can i get some good Marshall-esque tones?? Looking to use in my little cover band...so i think w the Footswitch Mod she would be very versatile...

let the games begin!!!

thanks!!

Hey Pauly

I've been using an Einstein combo for 2 years nearly now in a busy cover band (open back G12-K100 model).

Its an awesome amp. Not had the footswitch mod done as I don't need to. Spend a lot of the set on Ch1 Mode 2 Gain at around 3 o'clock. Cleans up great with guitar volume. Its like a Marshall as it should be. Made by Diezel!!!!

Heavier stuff mode 3 and gain back to noon or 1 o'clock, its a slamming sound. Just massive. Mega does its name justice.

If I need clean tone then mode 1 gain as Mode 3. Its no issue to just get to the amp and flick a switch and turn 1 knob between songs. Don't forget switchable Master 2 as well!!!

EQ can remain the same on all 3 modes. Though everything is normally around the noon mark, with a slight Bass boost if using the GL-56 on Ch 1.

Ch2 of course for leads and if required massive riffs. I stopped using any OD or boost pedals when I got Einstein. Just pointless.

So far its been pretty reliable. had one issue that was quickly solved. Also blew a speaker, oops. Just recently tried JJ KT-77's in it but that didn't work out too well. See separate thread.

Gonna keep using Ruby EL34 BHT for now.

I have a CAE 1 x 12 cab with Eminence Governor in it (closed back) that I use for bigger shows and the combination of the 2 cabs is unsettling for the rest of the band..... You could use a 2 or 4 x 12 or what have you as well if required.

Never been happier with an amp or tone experience bud.

ROCK on!!!

It will totally do Marshall tones. I use a 100 watter w/ch. 1 mode mod and it delivers in spades. Texas mode on ch. 1 is where it's at for Marshallness
I pretty much use ch. 1's clean and Texas mode most of the night and ch. 2 for leads and some D tuned stuff. Set the gain at about 2-3 O'clock on Ch. 1. Clean mode warms up and has a lil more girth/depth and texas mode really opens up into rich Marshally grind territory.

Einstein kills, just do it. think over the top diezel jcm800.

Looks like i found one!! SCORE!! Gonna grab it on Sat!!

now the next step...what speaker...heres the choices..sound off

Celestion K100 ( comes in the amp... like the speaker but more in high power situations)
Celestion V30 ( have one sitting around)
Celestion Lynchback
Celestion Creamback
(neither of which i ever tried but reviews & clips intrigue me)
Scumback BM75-65W - per Jims recommendation... ( never had a Scumback either)

go!!

My experience is that a single V30 can sound a bit boxy. Don't have any experience with the other speakers you list, but I'd try to find something that has a bit more high-low extension than a V30. (Don't get me wrong, I love V30s, probably my favorite speaker if I can use more than one speaker).

I agree with cardinal. I never liked a single V30 in a open back cab sounded boxy to me too. Creamback or the scumback would sound better. Personally I like a Eminence Delta pro A (same as EV12ML) in any 1x12 cab. What style of music are you covering?

tunes are all over the board. Mostly rock/Classic Rock. ( Led Zep, Thin Lizzy, CCR, The Who) Few modern pop tunes but Nothing really heavy. Im leaning towards the Scumback since im not really too familiar w the newer Celestions...but fire away fellas...im all about input..

If it's nothing heavy then I'd totally go with the Scum or other G12-65 style speakers. Great style of speaker that can cover just about everything. Let us know what you think of the K-100 as a combo speaker.

Im gonna give the Scumback a try. Jim was very helpful in finding what i needed...so its worth a try. But ill run the K100 a bit & let you know. i was always a fan of K100s just not in rear loaded or open back stuff...but i could be suprised

Thanks fellas!!!

When you get your Einstein I'd suggest you talk to Jens Kruse in L.A. about his mods. I got my Einstein fully modded (3 seperate gain pots for ch1 modes), footswitchable ch1 modes plus his DeKompression mod which will blow you away. You can PM me for more details if you like.
Good luck with your purchase. Richard

Going to pick this up tomorrow. Let the good times begin... And I have been in contact w Jens.. Sounds interesting.
