Last Mesa I had was a Mk V. Great amp but some of the modes were completely useless, for me.

Looking at MK V 35, Triple Crown, and maybe even a Dual Recto. The Petrucci looks great but out of my price range.

I recently got the Soldano Hot Rod 25 and I'm blown away at how good it is. I want a Mesa that has that "this is awesome" factor
Any suggestions welcome

I have a Mark v:35. I would definitely recommend it.

That Mark III++ I sold you is the amp to get. I miss it.

I did like the MV25 a lot...much better than the fullsize Mark V, but find the Mark IV to be a better amp overall. III was awesome, too. They're all sorta similar, but different in various ways...like features and tonal era...I feel like each Mark series amp was made to cover lots of ground at the time that it was built...so they have just gotten more modern as time goes on.

I tend to notice how some of the newer Mesa amps have this dry kinda hollow character to them. I guess you can tweak around or use pedals. The TC50 I only tried briefly but liked it. The Royal Atlantic was ok, it never took off but I liked it more than the Marshall JVM's.

I can't really comment on the TC or RA since I haven't tried either of them. My biggest complaint about the Mark Vs was the low end...just super anemic in terms of feel and depth. The IV doesn't have that problem. I did find the low end to be an issue with the MV25, too, but I ran that amp with a Power Station, which completely fixed that problem. I dunno, though...lots of people have said I'm crazy for thinking a Mark V doesn't have enough low end lol. But yeah, I do agree on the dry/hollow character thing on the MV. I found the MV25 to have a lot more depth and saturation than the full size, which I thought was weird, but whatever.

I haven't played a regular JVM in years, but the Satriani version is incredible, and has the best built in noise gate I have ever seen.

Been wanting to try the Soldano 25.
Had a Rectoverb head and thought it was pretty good
The mini Rectoverb is good to if you looking for smaller footprint

Been on Marshall flavor as of late though

I agree. I hate linking the same video all the time but this is a perfect example of what I'm hearing with the newer Mark amps. The IV IMHO sounds a lot better here. But I'd like to go out and play the JP2C, the MIDI control is something I wish the IV had.

The MKIV sounds great in that clip but the JP2C is capable of sounding much better.

Get an old MKIII if you want that raw, blistering Mesa Mark tone, or a MKIV if you want it smoother and more refined.
Both completely KILLER amps.

I don't know what used JP2c's are going for used but I would save up if it was me. I love mine. I still have a Splawn Nitro, 5153 Stealth and Mesa Lonestar but the JP2C gets all the play time. It's features are amazing and the tones are even better. Im not sure Mesa can top this. I have owned DRs and loved them but the JP2C covers so much more ground it's not even funny. You could play any style on it.

Damn I sound like an infomercial......

JP-2Cs are fantastic amps! I did just sell mine because something else fell into my lap that I was not expecting and have wanted for quite some time.

I also have a Mark V 35 combo that I really love. It sounds fabulous all around.

I had most of the ones your thinking of and if i were you go for the JP2c.
