Have a couple I am looking at, local guy has a Rev G but is asking $3000 which is way too much imho.

Another one I am interested in apparently has serial number: R-035570

I think the guy screwed up and added a 0 at the end??? Anyone know if they made 35000plus dual recs, or is it a typo???

EDIT....turns out the R-035570 is a 3 channel.

A 3 channel Recto for 3K is stupid at best. 3ch Rectos are sterile and flat sounding, compared to a G or earlier, or a MW. I have no idea where anyone comes up with these prices. You can get an F for 4K.
More importantly, you can buy a new reissue Dual/Triple for a little more than 3K.
I've had the new Triple in house for a few weeks and it's amazeballs.
Best Recto yet and I've had a C, 2 F Triples and 4 Gs. This one slays all.

Here ya go. This will smoke a Rev G.
I can’t believe this hasn’t sold yet…

I think the 3k is for the actual RevG. The 3 channel is another option for 67mike to buy, but he did not state the price.

And yes, 3k for the RevG seems high. Probably better of buying the RI or even the Triple RI.

BTW, which is your favorite channel of the Triple RI? With this one, I gravitate towards red modern. Usually I go with orange modern on two channels.

That’s hot

A rev G is $3K now ? Mmmmmhhh. Maybe I have one for sale then. I need to think about it LOL

I'm still with Orange Modern as #1; but this Red is VERRRY close. That's the one difference that seems to match my experience with Rectos as I went earlier ....G to F, and finally a C...the Red always got better the earlier the revision. And, the C mod I did to one of my F Triples also improved the Red in a HUGE way.
But this new Triple has the best Red of any of them. It's the best Mesa I've played; previously the C Dual was in that spot.
BTW if you tube roll, I just loaded mine with older Winged C 34s and some Chinese 8th gen pre, with an Ei in V1 and a Tungsram in the PI....wow what a difference. Almost blanket off the cab difference....highly recommend throwing some better sounding tubes in yours if you have them.

Do the new Recto RI amps need to be cranked to come alive and become deblanketed, like the old ones?

Not really; but like any amp they sound better louder. I never found the earlier revisions(F, C) to need a ton of volume to sound killer. The Gs, because they are so dark (compared to F, C, and the reissue) did seem to need big volume more than the earlier ones.
I find that low volume in the reissue is still very 3D/Rich/Organic or whatever term one uses for damn good tone.
It's the best recto to date IMO.

Thanks for the tube advice. I was not thinking of changing tubes, as I really like how it sounds now. I just had another play with it.
IMO, Red modern expands more into the low end is tighter. I have to do quite some tweaking in orange modern, and still, red is tighter although less organic.

I was thinking of maybe try some TungSol el34 as it is my favorite tube in my Marshalls. Ei usually goes in the PI position in my Marshalls. But I will try it in V1. Like I said, I did not consider tube roling yet as modern red just sounded perfect out of the box.

It is killer stock and there's no actual need to tube swap...but, it's fun to try. Yep the Ei is great in the PI spot....I'm going to swap the Tungsram with the Ei later today to hear any difference. Both tubes are great in the PI. Tungsram more so in V1 and as you know probably came with most of the OG C+ back in the day.

I also loved how mine sounded with the stock tubes, until I changed the stock tubes.
The Mesa tubes are 440 Red, their coldest tube. I installed a quad of Winged C EL34’s and the difference was startling.
The amp literally went next level in every possible way. More aggressive, more punch, tighter, better clarity, more alive, like a blanket was lifted. Your amp is operating at around 60% of its potential with the stock tubes. Lol
I also went with Tung Sol in V1, Chinese in 2, 3 and 4, Sovtek the PI, and that also made a significant improvement.

Agreed, the RI red is the best red EVAR.

Where do you guys all get the winged C el34 from, especially selected for the Mesa bias?
