Everytime I read 2023 my brain twists the numbers to 2203 and I automatically think of Marshall.

First the bad. 2022 started with owing the IRS a ton of money because our companies forgot to change the tax deductions. Had a friend and coworker both commit suicide, and saw the COV-19 deaths, cancer and others. My wife and I have been to 15 funerals and/or viewings in just over a year. Has been nuts. Have a good buddy going thru a divorce and have seen other friends struggling with a myriad of things.
There has been a ton of good too. My daughter's band is doing awesome, stepson doing great in college, and I have been like a machine writing songs for my own band. I've done about eight to ten songs, lyrics and riffs in just a few months. I don't like to sing but by default I've been singing in a three piece. Seen some cool shows, bought a few guitars and amps and trying to just enjoy life like everyone else.

Like many of you, 2022 pretty much sucked a fat one... the best parts were definitely family and gear 
Hoping 2023 has a better spin on everything, cheers guys!

The best part of 2022 for me, was finding a chiropractor that fixed, my two and half year back issue. It's incredible better you live when you're pain free!
Gear wise, it was a good year. I was able to shift a lot of gear into a guitar that I was after for over a decade! It's the Les Paul Standard pictured. I also found my dream Les Paul Jr... it's a 57, with the perfect weight, perfect neck, and with a tone that almost sound like a piano! So, if I die tomorrow, I can say I got to enjoy my favorite Les Paul Jr and Les Paul Standard.
Got some cool amps too, with a Hermansson 5 Gain Stage + 3 Gain Stage Marshall being one of them. I also learn, in the hardest way, that gear suppose to bring you joy. And if it doesn't, then it must go. So, I started selling some items that brought more headache than happiness, so I'm glad to see them going.
Like a great friend always say, another year above ground is another great year!
We just need to figure out whats good and bad for us, so we can bring the good closer, while pushing the bad away. Then the year get's even better.

Happy new year! Hope you're doing great!
That's an original 1956 Les Paul Standard, that someone a long ago, decided to convert it to humbuckers and refinish it. When they stripped off the Gold finish they probably noticed the flame and decided to refinish it in sunburst.
It has now a pair of original 61 PAFs, Over the Pond pickup rings, bone nut, sunburst finish(done on the late 90s/early 2000s), 59 style frets... everything else is original from factory.
It's not a chug machine, like more modern guitars, but at 7 pounds and 14 ounces, it's one of the best playing and sounding Les Pauls I've ever heard.

One of my friends in NY has one too: a ‘56 Goldtop refinished to a burst, retrofitted with ‘50’s PAF’s, ~7 lbs. He got rid of a real ‘59 LP burst because of it. He’s had it for decades now
Surprisingly, of the vintage guitars I’ve had or tried my 1964 Epiphone Rivera that I got this past summer chugs well and sounds most aggressive. It’s been my favorite vintage guitar so far, but my friends that tried both still like my ‘57 LP Jr more. That’s a close 2nd for me

I found that to be the case of gear in general from that era. Hard to go back to other stuff after playing good examples of them

Appreciate the thought. Just crazy story. I have yet to watch the video being done that night. I’m sure there is a part in recoding where a group of my medical friends leave to go outside when asked.. had no idea. ?.
