Looking for a new OD for the board!

I’d have a look at the JHS at+, can be smooth, can be Marshally and then there’s the tubescreamer type boost on it that can be used standalone.

maxon od808. Could be mistaken but I believe it's the original. Regardless, should check it out!
The Soul Driven which I've tried does the boutique 808 tones in buckets. I think I may end up getting it. Plus my Buxom and Golden Pearl knocked my 808 off my body ard along with the Bonsai.

Always up for trying others though.

You might consider a Zendrive. It has less mid hump than TS types, and a Voice knob that lets you tune the hump to a lower/fatter frequency if desired. Gives some of that liquid feel on single note lines like a TS does, but with a bit less honk. It might cut a little less low end too.

If you want something Brit-flavored, I concur that it'd be hard to go wrong with a Friedman pedal.
Dave has absolutely nailed some great Marshall tones.

My own go-to right now is the Lovepedal JMP Eleven, nice little Marshall-ish OD with the Church Of Tone gritty boost on a separate footswitch.
The two sides stack beautifully, with a compact MXR-sized footprint. (My boards are pretty tight on space.)

I have looked at the Zen Drive but it's been many years. I believe it is discontinued and very expensive on the used market? I see them listed for $250-$800+ or so!

The original Zens were handbuilt by Alfonse Hermida and they bring top dollar these days. But Al made an arrangement with Lovepedal to produce modern ones, and there have been several versions made in different flavors. I have several kinds and like the gold Zendrive II best, but that's just me. There are higher gain Red Dot or Black Magic versions, and a smoother-voiced Vanilla one, as well as the original silver & black Robben Ford type.

It gets confusing because unscrupulous sellers will try to pass off a recent Hermida/Lovepedal version as an original Hermida. But mostly they run around $150 used now, maybe $200 for the gold Zen II. Lovepedal occasionally offers them new for $125 in flash sales, where you pay first and he ships in a month or two. I've like Lovepedals - especially his drive pedals - and have done that a few times.

Prices have gone up a lot this year. Last Fall you could still find used ones for $99.

Thanks for the ideas. It's been good because it opened my eyes to pedals in which I've never heard! Thanks. Very appreciated.

I'm a big fan of the maxon od9pro+ and the st9pro+ models.

It's funny that as cool as the Bonsai is and as good as a lot of the options sound on it, I prefer a real screamer or just not using it as well.

For my addition, a DOD 250 or Guv'nor are getting a lot play time from me these days.

Cusak screamer is a good and cheap option if you want some cut.

Who is Wayne!? I'm confused on what is a Wayne 808?
I can't find a pedal company named Wayne or anything close.
Griffin Audio / he’s a member here
you know I thought about using Griffin Audio ..... but I think I had actually found another company named that ...

Griffin Analog is a better description though ............ I'm a " nothing digital in my signal chain " kind of guy ... I don't mind digitally controlled anolg circuits .... but the signal path has to remain analog for me .

for PSGuitar .... the pedals mentioned above are ones I'm currently running ...

I came to suggest some Lovepedal stuff as well. I’ve got a bunch now and they’re fucking GREAT for stacking. The Red Zen and the Tchula are my two favorite stacking pedals. Not really ideal for being a single pedal into a clean amp, they mostly go to edge of breakup territory but man they sound fucking great stacked with other pedals or pushing something like a Plexi into into more Yngwie territory.

There’s also the Vintage Modern, 2 dirt pedals in one (I’m sure they’re specific voicings but I cant remember) that you actually can use as one-pedal-only into an amp, I like setting one side for a distorted rhythm tone then using the other side to boost it.

Almost all the Lovepedals were selling for stupid prices last year, but they’ve started coming down to reality. Sean has only been selling them in limited runs for the SNS (speculated to mean Saturday Night Sale…or it used to mean that) where he‘ll list about 10 different pedals on the site and once he has enough orders he takes them down. They’re all dirt fucking cheap, I think the most I spent was $200 on a germanium Dover Drive.

Oh dear. My answer to this question changes every month. Right now, I have come full circle and I am using my Keeley modded Boss SD-1 with my JCM800 2204. It's between that one and the Rimrock Mythical Overdrive. Before that, I was using an older Barber Direct Drive, Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet and/or Fulltone Fulldrive 3. Others that come in and out: Analogman modded TS9, Mini Tube Screamer, MXR Timmy.

Any of these do the job.
