Bottom line, anything does the job into a Marshall. You didn't mention what amp you were using though ( unless I missed it)

What is so different about the 808 Screamer from Griffin Analog? Is it going to be that much diffrent than the Keely or JHS mods that were on the Bonsai?

I don't know about the internals of the pedals you mentioned ....
my 808 Screamer is simply a emulsion of the original TS and the original Maxxon 808 circuits .... I breadboarded both circuits and mixed and matched till I was happy ..... I use what I consider the best sounding IC in mine ... and unlike the original TS ..... my 808 Screamer is asymmetrically clipped . There's no secret mojo I sprinkle on things ......... it's just a combo of really good components on a TS/808 circuit . Most of the time on " popular " modded variants .... when they claim to be lowering the noise floor .... they are just replacing cheap electrolytics with better ones ... I just use the better ones from the start .... leaving a great OD with a ton of clarity .

If you can find a deadweald duality, those have 2 boosts and separate gates for each one- strong recommend

If you don't mind me asking, .... What are the differences between your 808 and SD-1 inspired pedals?

my 808 is as described above ...... my Super Drive is just a straight up SD-1 clone with upgraded quality components and true / bypass

you know I thought about using Griffin Audio ..... but I think I had actually found another company named that ...

Griffin Analog is a better description though ............ I'm a " nothing digital in my signal chain " kind of guy ... I don't mind digitally controlled anolg circuits .... but the signal path has to remain analog for me .

for PSGuitar .... the pedals mentioned above are ones I'm currently running ...

Sorry I had a brain fart lol

Head good things about the MWK Dybbuk

Is that demo the pedal into a clean amp? Sounds great but I wonder how it feels. I've had pedals I ran into my clean channels but they never seemed to feel right. I tend to use my crunch channels as a base and add an OD pedal rather than OD/Distortion pedal into clean.

Yeah it's a boost, run into crunch.

I came to suggest some Lovepedal stuff as well. I’ve got a bunch now and they’re fucking GREAT for stacking. The Red Zen and the Tchula are my two favorite stacking pedals. Not really ideal for being a single pedal into a clean amp, they mostly go to edge of breakup territory but man they sound fucking great stacked with other pedals or pushing something like a Plexi into into more Yngwie territory.

There’s also the Vintage Modern, 2 dirt pedals in one (I’m sure they’re specific voicings but I cant remember) that you actually can use as one-pedal-only into an amp, I like setting one side for a distorted rhythm tone then using the other side to boost it.

Almost all the Lovepedals were selling for stupid prices last year, but they’ve started coming down to reality. Sean has only been selling them in limited runs for the SNS (speculated to mean Saturday Night Sale…or it used to mean that) where he‘ll list about 10 different pedals on the site and once he has enough orders he takes them down. They’re all dirt fucking cheap, I think the most I spent was $200 on a germanium Dover Drive.

I got the germanium Dover too - it rocks. I really like Lovepedals and (thanks partly to those great SNS deals) I have a bunch of them, mostly ODs, fuzzes and treble boosters. But I also have a Pickle Vibe and an Echophonic. Good stuff, especially those drive pedals.

My experience is that 99% of the time, crunch is a better core tone to feed ODs into. The exception for me is fuzz, where it's quite distorted already - a clean channel gives better clarity when full up and also allows the best cleanup when you roll the guitar back.

Some fuzzes don't clean up too well, but I love the Jimi-style semicleans you get from playing through a FuzzFace with the volume rolled way back at the guitar.

I had the Soul Driven.
Thought it sounded great. I swear the sustain went for miles.
That pedal has a ton of gain on tap!

So shiny and bright, it could probably have a second life as a fishing lure.

I'm a fan of power amp gain.
But I've been using if anything, a Lightspeed for my Marshall clones.
It just sounds like my amp.
However, have been liking my PoT for single coils.
I have a modded SD-1 which has a switch to cover 808 territory. Like for both sc and hb loaded guitars.
I have a Mythical OD (klone) which everyone should own some variation of... :dunno:
Also have a Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop which to me, gets a thicker tone than my others.

kingtone makes great stuff

went through an analogman ts-9 silver mod, barber direct drive, xotic bb preamp, bogner burnley, vertex modded carl martin plexitone, friedman be-od, and now bogner blue for marshally sounds. would like to try a friedman smallbox in my rig too.

i currently have a ethos overdrive with tle/gac and i hit it with a hermida dual boost for everything from smooth boogie mark to dumble lead tones.

also a klamac arc furnace and hit that with a revival cali 76 stacked comp for killer SRV dirt.

Waiting for my email alert that a Red Dragon is coming my way right now. I swore them off a few months ago until I get some delay/modulation pedals, but when they pop up and shit’s $100 a pop, it’s REALLY hard to say no!

Yes, I want to get one.

I picked up a Friedman Dirty Shirley, so I'll give this a go first. I'm using it as an OD into my crunch to shape and change it a bit. Also, great as a lead boost.

I'm sort of wishing I had gotten the Soul Driven.

I agree and it sucks because with a pedal like my Dirty Shirley, I would live to use it into clean as another channel. I did that with my Bogner pedals but didn't work well.

So, I try to blend with the crunch channel or use as a solo boost.

If you're looking for gain, compression and miles of sustain, I don't think you could go wrong with the Soul Driven.
Exactly why I sold it. Just too much for me.

Wow - too much? I mostly want to add to my crunch channels to fill it out, add sustain and mids for leads. Also to use as a different flavor blended with my crunch channel.

To be a complete noob...
All my beginnig guitar playing was acoustic.
Always had an electric, but never learned how to properly use an amp or the electric guitar for that matter.

Roughly eight years ago I started getting into electric and tube amps. Learn how to use them both.
Then my Dirty Shirley head to a shit and decided to build my own amp.

Anyways, at first I didnt really want or understand gain. I wanted clean, hence amps like the Cali Tweed I owned.
So I went to buy an OD and picked up a Soul Driven.

Fast forward to today, and the thought of more gain and sustain is cool, but a little too late, lol...
Hope that makes as much sense written as it did in my head?
