I would like to put together a parts guitar in the Charvel Dinky / Jackson Soloist vein ... I would really like a great feeling neck. I like Charvel (Japanese and USA) necks a lot. Also the neck on My Tom Anderson feels amazing. So if I could get something along those lines it would be great. I know some might say why not just buy a Charvel neck 2nd hand ..I would prefer a new neck and a reverse headstock , a used neck isnt a bad idea but ya never know what you might end up with, fret issues, bad tone etc.

I tried a friends Warmoth build for a few minutes a while back. The neck wasnt bad by any means but I wouldnt say it left a lasting impression on me. I'm wondering if a Musikraft neck or one of the other companies out there might offer a better feeling neck for my taste.

There are lots of reviews and info out there but I just want to see what you guys think. I would have to weed through so much info that I thought it might be cool to start a thread about it. :D

The neck on the new Fender Shawbucker Strat reminded me a lot of Charvels I have had in the past. I have never swapped out a neck so not an expert but it is like a combination of a lot of things that make a Charvel neck great. Smooth finish with no sticky feel, jumbo frets on the fretboard, and the shape which is not too flat and not too round. There are a lot of experts on here that should be able to help you out.

Exactly, thats the feel, fast smooth, not too fat not too thin. Something like a mix of a C and D back. Rolled fretboard edges would be great too.

Used Charvel necks have been selling for some pretty high prices on Ebay lately. You might as well hold out for a good deal on a guitar most the time. I've never tried a replacement neck from other companies. It would be interesting to try one with a little smaller radius around the first five frets or so but if I liked it too much I might want to replace the ones I already have which would get expensive!

Same issues can happen with a new neck. ;)
