I'm currently using a Mesa Recto Std 4x12, and I've been looking at the Egnater 4x12's. I'm not really digging the Mesa much anymore. They're backbreaking, and don't seem very organic sounding.

Anyone able to compare these cabs for me? I'd be looking at grabbing 2 Egnater straights or 1 straight and a 2x12.

I like the Egnater stuff better than Mesa, but I'd wait for a Bogner man. Get a 4x12 Bogner with v30s & load your Mesa 2x12 with EVMs, or even better a Bogner OS 2x12 with EVMs if you can afford it. You won't be disappointed, but your bass player will be most likely :D

With the possibility of a tour this summer, I really don't want to be dragging a Bogner on our first dive bar tour, ya know? Even Rick's thinking of getting a different cab to tour with.

I see.

Drive to a GC & try them out. I thought Egnater cabs were pretty nice.

The one in Arlington Heights had a bunch of them.

I shall check them out again. I wish I could bring one to rehearsals for a day. There's no way to really compare them when you have a bunch of kids running around a store where you can't play above whisper volume anyway.

Screw them, just crank the damn thing. What's the store for if you can't even try the gear. You should hear me in Highland Park when I was trying an Ampeg bass rig with an 8x10

What's their return policy? Do they give a full refund?

I think it's 30 days.....shit I'll just do that.

Still, you can probably find a used Bogner for 600$. I don't know if it's worth going for an Egnater, what are you going to save? Like 50$? Try calling makenmusic, they have them used once in a while too.

Randall XXL.

I still have yet to plug into a cab I like better.

I've got a guy who's possibly willing to do a straight up trade for a Framus Cobra angled with 2 V30's and 2 G12-T75's in an X for my Mesa. Anyone have experience with Framus cabs?

Marshall cabs + craiglist = fat deals.

True, but I've never dug any of the Marshall cabs I've played out of. Even for just a touring cab, I don't think I'd be able to stand the sound.

Nothing against Framus, but> "Don't do it!"

I think you have a better cab with a better resale value.

Maybe it's because the cabs you played were loaded with speakers you didn't like. Personally i hate 75 watt celestions unless they're CRANKED. And i see plenty of Marshall cabs loaded with those speakers.

A checkerboard Marshall cab from the 70's loaded with Blackbacks sounds fantastic.

What makes you say this?

Framus cabs sound great but the tolex is very weak, but they are very light.

I just looked up the specs...wow they are made from some thin plywood. 17mm just doesn't seem sturdy to me.

Go for a Splawn cab. They are super reasonable pricewise and sound awesome.

I never did either until I got one off Craigslist for $125 and I started swapping speakers until I found a good combo. I ended up with 2 V30's and 2 Warehouse Green Berets.
