My wife currently complained that I am lacking green guitars.

To mitigate I akquired a green Mighty Mite solid ash Strat body and a Charvel one piece maple neck. The body is routed for a single humbucker. Now I am in a serious hassle with myself which pickup to choose. I would like to get a different voicing comapred to my dimarzio equipped Charvel So Cal.

So far I have shortlisted:

Bare Knuckle - Holy Diver
Motor City -Angel Dust
Häussel - Tozz
Suhr - Aldrich
Duncan - SH6

If this setup was yours, what would be your first choice?

im putting a aldrich in my charvel "alder" and i have been using bkp rebells in my esp eclipse. I have a feeling im going to like the pickup but not as much. my first choice would be the holydiver, but then again i dont have any expierence with the other pickups

If it was mine I would go with either the Aldrich or Sh-6.

don't believe the hype...get the motor city & save yourself the effort of having to relist another pickup for sale shortly after

Thanks for the input guys!

aldrich or duncan custom

I have a Custom 5 in my Fernandes, like it for some stuff, but the presence in the mix is way better with my other guitars. However, the Custom is a ceramic - could be an improvement. This would be the budget friendly approach.

With regard to the Aldrich, I am really curious about this Pickup and would like to give it a try even if I start to believe from my readings the last days that the Aldrich works probably best in LP-style applications.

Sounds promising. From what I was able to find in the web I believe that the Angel Dust would go into the right direction for my purposes. Is there any knowledge available regarding the Nasty Nasty? Found a (Friedmann) comment in another forum, that this one goes in the direction of a JB.

i played the angel dust pick up and love the upper mids on it, also depends what youre into i don't like high out put pick ups some people due just personal preferences

My favorites so far after wading through dozens of different pickups are the Arcane Brownbucker for EVH type tones and the plain old Duncan Custom for hard rock to metal tones.

Today I have picked up neck and body from the customs office:

It's about time to come to a conclusion :) Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and experience - very much appreciated!

As I wanted to swap the Custom 5 in my Fernandes anyway, I probably will give the MCP as well as the the Duncan Custom a try. What works best out of those three will then stay in the "MightyCharvel".

SH6 or Bare Knuckle. Bare Knuckle is one of my favorite pick up brands, especially good if you wanna play heavier stuff, but it can work for anything. Bare Knuckle for anything from Hard Rock to the heaviest genres, SH6 for anything from Rock to Metal.

I did the Aldrich in ash and it was good, but a little too edgy for my taste. Did the Holy Diver in alder and it is good, but a bit loose in the bottom end. Trying to get the magic of my old JB in basswood. Waiting on a custom MCP Afwayu, so I am hoping that you go with the Angel Dust and report back to us...

I have just ordered now a Angel Dust. I will give a feedback as soon as possible.

Thanks for pushing ;)

MCP Angel Dust is gonna be way too bright in that guitar.
If you didn't want to stay away from DiMarzio, I would say Tone Zone.
If you wanna try a Bare Knuckle, Nail Bombs work well in bright guitars.

I would be shocked if you didn't really like it. I have never had MCP's that I didn't like alot! That said, I have yet to try the Angel Dust.

Great choice. I just got my Angel Dust bridge/2nd Degree neck for my Alder Bolt. No Floyd though. I should have it in soon. Getting all my pots replaced also. I have the Aldrich in my Alder Charvel Pointy 2005 Reissue. Sounds pretty good!!!
