Check out Tom Anderson pickups.

That's what I was if thinking too. Something like the h3 or h2plus.

I had an afwayu and I didn't find that it had more bass than the Aldrich. It was also not as clear, more growling by comparison. I must admit I was not a fan of the afwayu, just wasn't what I wanted in my old lp studio.

The H2+ is also a great pickup!! Played though an Anderson loaded with one of these and it did kick ass!!!!

Black Dog is a strongly flavored PAF variant; not a lot of low end.
JB does not have prodigious low end , IMHO.
I think it's a great pickup for it's flavor or genre.

I also find the Aldrich thin and lacking bottom end. The Afwayu is a great alternative in a bright guitar but I would say save the $$ and go with the Duncan Distortion.

Duncan distortion has less bass on the EQ meter than it's friend over at dimarzio.. why not go with the original and get a super distortion?? I like it in the brighter strat I have. With an endorsement like Ace Frehley, how can you go wrong!!!!?? :scared:

The dimarzio super distortion is a great pickup. It was my favorite in my old lp studio, which tended to lack bass in the bridge position. It does have a pretty instantly recognizable sound.

+1 on the afwayu. I put one in my axis and it was too hot. I sent it back to Wade and he tamed it down a bit and it was incredible. I say 'was' because like an idiot I sold it  I've tried other pups in that guitar and nothing has lasted. I have a Norton in it now and though its nice it still leaves me wanting more

Btw, you have the stock pup still? Is it the same as the regular Axis pups?

Manlius Asphalt. Huge tight low end. Great clarity. Love this pickup. Killertone(Jason F) turned me on to this one. I ordered mine custom with a ceramic magnet.

How about a ceramic black hawk?
Also , I don't have the stock bridge pickup as it went microphonic

I just bought one to replace the H2 in my TA Pro Am. My other two TA Drop Tops have HN3+ and I love that pickup. Thats the most high output pickup he makes.

Yea, I'm really digging the tone if the ceramic black hawk in the site. My tele has a bkp in it.

EBMM will give you a free pickup if you send the old one back

Oh really? I remember really liking the original pickup.

I had MCP (hotheads) in my Luxxtone and just didnt dig them after time. I went with the Aldrich set and man they are great. It has to be your guitar that just doesnt agree with them. You should look into the Suhr SSH+. Great pickup and doesnt have the mid bump the Aldrich has. I put one in my Charvel and it killes.

Yes, that trade worked out quite well for both of us :D

The guitar is chambered basswood w mahogany tone block. Definitely mid heavy.

Amazing as I hear the opposite: I just swapped an Aldrich for a JB in a PRS West St. :all mahogany set neck with a vintage style tremelo. The Aldrich bridge has quite a lot of bass without sounding muddy. It's delivers more upper end than the JB too. Both are great pups. Can't go wrong with either.
