I listened to all three of those bands so much in high school that I wore out the albums and tapes. It is sad that Poison has their crap together more than Def Leppard and Motley Crue and will probably be the best sounding band on the bill.

To be honest, I don't know how Motley Crue is going to pull this off. As mentioned, Mick is struggling with just trying to stand up and Vince is a blimp. He went from kind of chunky to "My 600-Pound Life" level. I applaud Mick for still doing what he loves though and if it keeps him happy and alive, go for it.

It sucks that all of these bands are finally putting together a concert that all of us fans have been begging them to do for years. We all wanted a show with these big name bands together. Now they are all older and can't hit notes, etc. and nearing the end.

They're gonna pull it off cause of all the money on the table. I love Mick Mars but he's probably had the biggest money issues out of the four so I`d bet he's doing it not just for the love of the music . Motley Crue , Whitesnake and Poison did a stadium show in Oakland in 1987 and it was a sold out packed to the rafters , a killer day of rock n roll . I know Def Lepp wasn't on the bill but I was just using it as an example that these bands did do big shows together back in the day
 
^ I saw that Crue tour too. Unbelievably good show. Not sure if you all can see it but I paid $17.50 for that show with Motley Crue and Whitesnake.

Best show ever. Kingdom Come / Scorpions / Dokken / Metallica / Van Halen

I am a young buck here (coming up on the big 30), always dreamed about seeking the crue. If the early shows review are half decent, and somewhere around here, I would go for $50 and sit in a shitty seat.

I'm 51 years old and graduated high school in 1986. I'm a product of the '80's.

It is very sad to see what becomes of performers. Especially in the rock/metal genre. The likes of Elton John, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, etc all found a way to stay a viable act because they were mainstream acts. I agree Ozzy needs to retire, so does Kiss, so does Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, and pretty much every other hair band that existed. This is only my opinion though. Apparently others will still pay money to go to these shows.

I'm mostly surprised that Tommy Lee would agree to this, as well as Mick Mars. I'm sure it's because most of them couldn't live within their means.

the reality they can and will do what ever they want .... solution? just ignore them and get on with your life as this has zero effect on you
 
Seeing these bands live now feels like they are a tribute act to themselves. Especially Whitesnake and Foreigner. They way Coverdale wobbles about the stage like Ozzy is just cringe :doh:

As sexy as Coverdale thinks he still is, I would say he already hit 65 year old woman about 10 years ago. Tight faded jeans and a white open shirt ain't foolin anyone. Just get Sykes up there to finish whatever tour they are currently on. He can sing that shit better than Coverdale can and he's old as dirt now too!

I would say money aside, the only guy who probably actually ENJOYS playing Crue songs is Vince. I will say that Brett and Poison are still tight though but I find their stuff way too cheesy. Saw them live a few times as a kid (I'm 42 now) and thought they were fantastic but the music hasn't really held up for me. Cheese to the extreme. Surprisingly though, I always thought Rikki Rockett sucked on drums but in the last 10 years he's gotten some chops!
 
I should have seen some shows when I was in Germany in the mid-80s. Couldn't drive until 18 years old over there so was hard figuring out how to get to some of them. You would have to beg someone's Mom to let everyone pile in a car. LOL!

I was close to seeing Metallica in 86' but of course Cliff died a few shows before that one. Then we were talking about seeing Motley Crue and they cancelled the European tour when Nikki overdosed. I still have bad luck like that. My friend and I had tickets to AC/DC a few years ago. Two weeks before the show, Brian messed up his eardrums. Every time I get tickets to a show now, I cringe and wonder what event is going to jack it up. LOL

Geesh, someone is fun at parties eh? ;) Of course it doesn't matter and I don't give a shit but this is a gear and 80's worship forum, doesn't hurt to start a thread about absolutely nothing does it? Every day is like an episode of Seinfeld around here anyway.. we don't really talk about anything that matters. I will say that I wish someone would get on stage and do a gear tour of all Mick's stuff. Nobody has done that to my knowledge and it would be interesting what mojo he has going on there.
