The biggest complaint I have about moderation at TGP is the shut down of threads based entirely on topic. It's the lazy way to moderate. Just watch what folks are saying, respond to reports. In an off topic forum there should be plenty of room to discuss stuff.

Yeah man, I saw that one. Although I do think it was a little out of charactor for him, I thought, so you're dogging the guy and his amps because he sells them cheaper than anyone else? That was really the only bad thing that he could come up with because everyone who bought one thought the build and sound quality was great. Because he had a regular job and did it on the side and didn't charge much for his labor he was taking food out of the nouths of other builders??? I thought to myself, that's like saying don't hire the guy who busts his ass at a regular job and mows lawns as a side?

Exactly! THAT was the thread. I looked for it earlier but couldn't find it. He went far beyond injecting an opinion. Every other post on that thread was his Anybody else does it, the "infractions' start flying

One of the biggest problems at TGP is they don't have enough moderators for a board so active (with so many douchebag members). The sheer volume of threads to read and complaints to handle means they almost always take the fast way of overmoderating. They don't want to give up control, and so they have draconian moderation. They can't have their cake and eat it too.

Yeah, I remember the rockit retro plexi thread. Everyone who purchased one from Kevin loved it, The mod kept bashing the rockit retro. Word is that the owner wouldn't play ball and due the price fixing $3500 plexi clone and other "boutique" builders got pissed as Kevin will build u a complete in headshell and tubed 68 spec plexi clone with sozo's , hoeyboer's, etc for like $1200!! The mod even made accusations of illegality and tax evasion as if he was a jr IRS agent. All of his posts in the rockit thread have been deleted so I guess he or someone realized it didn't look right and wasn't cool. That being said I like tgp and their emporium is great. It is what it is.

I got a warning there for referencing Act's of the New Testament in a quasi religious form. It was in my signature over two years till I got the warning.... It was the same as my signature here.... with one word added.

It would be interesting to see who funds the various forums, like TGP. They police a requirement that regular posters need to disclose affiliations with builders. It would seem fair to have the moderators most list of who they are affiliated with via any funding or large donations. That would make it easier to see past BS when the shit starts to fly. Brad here seems pretty open about what he sells and what he's into. If Fractal is giving big donations to TGP to keep a hype machine running, that would be interesting to know, too.

TGP is funded by the "Emporium" ads of it's members. It's $5 for one month, or $12 for a whole year. Multiply that by the # of people selling their gear and you can see how they wouldn't need any special donations or funds.

Years ago (pre-2007) when they didn't have emporium fees, the manufacturers used to offer up their products for raffles, or drawings to pay for their server fees. I used to donate a couple of speakers per year then. I haven't had to do that for 6 years. Now I pay $50 per year (the maximum) to have a gold supporting membership with a large PM box, and a user avatar.

I think the weight comments are out of line. I doubt there are many (or any) super models here or any gear forum.

I own a Rockitt Retro(Rockstah Mod 5 done by Mark A. RIP)its a great plexi clone top notch parts.I have played many high price plexi type amps and the Rockitt is very tough to beat.
