Awright guys......I know this is not the RT forte, but now that the FJA is out the door, I need something low cost for just riffing at home in between clients......I'm thinking JamUp Pro or something.....anyone using this and do you dig it for practice jams? I know it's not going to sound like the Mesa; nothing will......but I gotta go cheap on this. App/couple packs/adapter=cheap enough. Also, which adapter should I try for use with IOS?

Thanks for helping out a poor mofo, RT.

Why not a Line 6 spider jam? The little combo with the built in backing track.

Line 6 POD? You can't go wrong there.

I was gonna say a pod too, you can use headphones when you need to be quiet. Either that or an old J station, which I actually prefer and can be had for $50 or less.

Ok......snagged an Apogee Jam in a trade +$$ deal this afternoon.....brought it home, fired up the free thing for JamUp, and got to work.....I seriously can't believe this.

I know it's heresy on here to say this, but I might never need another amp again. I don't gig anymore, and all my bros that play have either quit or gotten married and play way less. I live in an apartment, and I have never turned my amps up above 1. Even 50 watts is overkill.

This thing sounds amazing....for $40, I have a virtual rig that fuckin SLAMS thru headphones......buddy of mine hipped me to an app that links this to a drumkit app, a recording app, and then exports it to Soundcloud. No more need for Reaper, I guess.

I'm SHOCKED at the tones I'm getting from this thing.......if you haven't tried this, DO IT. You're gonna be amazed.

Happy New Gadget Day! I've been looking for an inexpensive home jamming setup as well, just wondering which drum and recording apps you're using? Are you on iPhone or iPad? I have an iPhone 4 I'm trying to get the most use out of, figure I might give the Apogee a go as well if I can run the drums and recording apps at the same time on an "older" phone without problems. I'd like to eventually output all that to PA speakers.

Hey man, I'm on an iPhone 4s, and I've put it on both my iPads too....one is a 3rd gen and the other is a mini. I'm using DM1 for the drums, but Rhythm Pad is free and decent too....for recording ideas and simple stuff I grabbed Hokusai Audio Editor....that one is free, but usable just for simple stuff. Let me know how you do! Excited for this stuff......it sounds really good....not just for what it cost, but period!

Is it a monster modded tube amp blasting 100 watts? No.....but it'll do.

Sounds cool I've heard some cool jamup clips although I know nothing about everything you have mentioned lol. I would like to learn more.

For low volume I use le pou amp Sims and gods cab impulse into an interface and reaper.

Sounds pretty cool for what it is.

Dude, the DM1 and the Hokusai are just apps, same as JamUp......if you snag the Jam, you'll see. I'm serious, I HATE tweaking....this stuff is plug and play.........you plug your guitar cable into one and of the Jam, the cable from the other end goes into your phone/iPad, and you can move stuff (pedals or whatever) around in your signal chain....it's really intuitive, and sounds incredible thru headphones. It's a LOT easier to use than amp sims and Reaper.

Yes ive seen pics, looks cool and similar to pod farm.

Reaper n ez drummer can certainly be a pain lol. You have me interested.

Check it out man.....I think you'll be glad you did. Let me know how it works out for you. I'm gonna buy the metal pack tomorrow and see what it sounds like.....same guy that hipped me to it said it really shines for hi gain models. I'll send ya a PM tomorrow after I get done messing with it and let you know how it sounds.

OK cool. There's a thread on ss.org/recording studio with some metal clips a guy did. Sounded good.

Aw heck why not let the rest us know too?

And thanks for the tips, I'll look into those apps. Happy jamming!

Let us know how Metal Pack is. Sounds like a cool app.

I'll just post it in here then...no need for PMs. Sorry, got confused above and was thinking I was talking to the same guy...didn't realize there'd be this much interest in it. Gonna D/L the Metal Pack and give it a whirl....I'll report back here later.

It isn't much but you can have my POD 2.0 for free, but you pay shipping.

THIS right here is why I love Rig-Talk.....people are actually giving on this board to help out fellow musicians. I really appreciate it man, but I figured something else out. Thanks a lot, brother!

No problem, let me know if it doesn't work out. Offer still stands.

Hope everything works out for you.

Ok guys....upgraded to JamUp Pro and snagged the metal pack too....thought about the Sig pack but decided to see what this sounded like first. There's a preset/patch sharing deal going on, where you can get patches from other users. It's great. Seriously great. I'm working on doing a clip...simple riffs that show 3-4 different patches, just to get the sound out there. Does it sound digital? Of course; there's no way it can't. But it KILLS any modeling I've tried from the POD stuff, including the HD500 I had. I wish I would have known about this sooner; I could have saved an ASSLOAD of money.

Greasy sounding brutal Recto tones in there, some clean/delay stuff, and a couple 5150 patches are my favorites so far. Called a buddy, told him to get it. He didn't believe me, but trusted me enough to go snag it; got a call from him at around 4am saying he'd been playing all night and couldn't believe how it sounded for the price. For around $120, this thing kills. Clip coming soon, I hope. Anyway, totally worth it if you want a low cost practice tool or something for late night jamming that disturbs no one, or even a decent recording/practice app on the cheap. /review
