Low end guitars you have had forever?

Post up any low-end guitars you have and still pull out to beat on occasionally

I picked up this Hondo II Professional (Model H-1020) back in 1991. I got it to take with me when I was getting stationed in Japan, because I didn't want to be at up my '89 Squier HM-1 (first electric, still have it)

It was refinished by me in my barracks room... Stripped to bare mahogany, The Crow comics cut from Heavy Metal magazine, sealed with water based poly....

Original pickup swapped out sometime in the early 2000s

Current pickup swap completed tonight (import P-94 Neck/ import Filtertron-ish in the bridge)

Thing still plays great

You all have any that you care to admit?

1987 Yamaha rgx612a, it's in the pawn shop at the moment. Gotta bail it out. It originally had stock actives but the electronics got fucked up so I put a single emg-81 in the bridge. Great shredder guitar. I think Ric Emmett of Triumph? Used to use these guitars? I've owned it about 25 years now.

I still have my first guitar from the 80s. Ibanez rg 430. I loved itthen but after all my custom shop guitars it seems like a piece of shit. Lol

I'm not certain if they fully qualify as "low end" or not, but I aquired two used made in Mexico Fender Blacktop series guitars (strat and tele) in 2011 for under $400 each that are without a doubt two of the best sounding and playing instruments i have handled at any price. If one pops up at a good price...grab it and thank me later.

I have a 2005 MIM Standard Strat in black/maple neck.. Got it "non-working"for $120 in a pawn shop... took 10 seconds to fix. You are correct, they are great players

I have an import Hamer SATF double cut that sounds and plays better than some Gibson Les Pauls I had. I sold the first 2 new LP Standards I ever bought because they didn't play any better and didn't sound as good. All of the 2019 and newer LP Standards I've owned however are just a touch better in tone and playability.

I have had a few low end guitars that I didnt keep. I have a custom shop jackson, and I absolutely love it, but those low end guitars were 90% there.

This was i believe a korean made jackson. It was all i ever really needed. I bought it for 500 and redid the electronics and put in a custom/59 hybrid. Amazing value

Forgot to mention my LTD Viper 400 with a emg-81 in the bridge position. That's actually my best playing guitar, I love it. Had it since 2005. Sadly all of my guitars at the moment would be considered low end, or middle of the road guitars. I had a couple Viper 1000's too but they didn't sound and play as well as the 400 so I sold them.

Also, I like to buy cheap guitars that play well and then put in better pickups, tuners etc...

Well, "Low-End" is all perspective...

I have Squiers, MIM Strat, MIA Strat, Yamaha SF-5000, Edwards...

I don't consider MIM Strats low end, Squiers are inexpensive, low end, but most are very capable

That Hondo I posted, 1989 Squier HM-1 ( my first guitar, Plywood Body, incredible neck), Tiesco Del Ray V-3 from 1969 (that bastard is ALL Plywood, including the neck)
