Low or High output pickups

so whats a good output for playing metal and using a peavey 6505 i always thought higher the better.. ive got emgs in all my guitar except my tele, and i have a GFS Crunchy Rails.. which is 16.2k and they sound good to me but do tend to feedback the closer i get to my amp..

I use to use high but for the last couple years they have all been low and I love them with a high gain amp.

I recently swapped the Duncan JB/Jazz I had in my #1, for the '59/ALnico Pro II I had in another guitar. Now, I think the guitar actually sounds heavier, because of the decreased output. More definition in the high gain settings, and much more touch sensitive on the lower/mid gain stuff.
