When Shark Diver got involved with Luxxtone I knew it would be a good thing. I has this idea for wolf in sheeps clothing or stealthilyl simplistic but versatile guitar and Jerry made it a reality:

-Single humbucker in rear
-Neck pickup under the pickguard
-Single volume control
-Pull volume to engage a tone roll off capacitor
-Three way pup selector
-Vintage trem flush against the body
-Easy access to trussrod
-22 frets
-Heavy relic finish in deep seafoam green; fingerboard under-relic'd

I played her today at the LA Amp Show. This guitar RIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks awesome! What kind of neck pickup and how does it sound seeing as it's quite far from the strings?

Looks great man. Showed it to my wife and she thought it was 50 years old. HNGD!

BEHIND the pickguard????!! I've never, ever heard of this? How can that work? AWESOME guitar!

That's what Tele Players have been doing for a long time, if they wanted the Esquire Looks but still needed a neck tone.

Great idea to do this on a super strat. Luxxtone is doing rather well methinks, nice little twitches to make them even more special!

pretty cool lookin but if your going to relic why a 22 fret neck? may as well Floyd it, cut the guard for the neck PU and call it a day :) That looks great but a bit too much relicing to my eyes. I'm really curious on how usable the neck PU would be under the guard.

Wouldn't a guitar with that much real "abuse" have a worn fret board and banged up neck also?

You are over thinking the whole thing.

Looks cool. Give me it with a Floyd though.

It's as if a Fender and a Charvel had a kid, that was the idea Jim had. An old, bashed and abused Fender body and classic trem with a few tricks under the guard, with a more modern aged oil neck built for shredding. Something I always wanted in a guitar too! The oil will break down and get dirty on the fretboard pretty quick also. Just a different spin and feel, not making a "clone" or trying to be era correct at all. Jim really had some killer ideas on this one!

The stealth single coil sounds very cool. Sparkly and clean, almost a country type twang to it. It's pretty cool to have that option to switch to if you want, even though it may not be a "classic" shredder single coil tone. Just more options to keep it fun. ;) We routed the first two layers of the pickguard material out just above the single coil, so there was less material on top of the pickup to help it out a bit.

This is what ive been looking for for years lol
After selling my MJT seafoam green relic body ;( (Did get my old Avenger half stack back tho!)
I LOVE the vintage trem idea.

You can ask 'why this and why not that'? The simple answer is 'because I said so'. :D

Which is the great thing about Luxxtone: they are open-minded to ideas like mine and you can have it done your way if you like. This guitar has some unique twists but not so far out in left-field that it was a complete guessing game as to the final result.

I wanted easy access to the trussrod. See photos. Also, I think most relic'd necks have a weird look to them so I asked Jerry to go very light if nothing on the fingerboard. Neck is a slightly overwound alnico V single coil but Jerry is going to try a hum-cancelling single coil and see how that works in the extreme high gain settings. (I have Dimarzio Areas in another strat and they work quiet well.) Otherwise the neck single sounds beautifully chimey clean and with moderate gain.

I've had great experiences with the Dimarzio Area models for a hum cancelling sc. Ymmv. (Sound great in a Baker strat i have)

Jeez...

You win! Best Luxxtone so far IMHO.

I have a 1-hum El Machete but I WILL have one spec'ed-out to my tastes at some point though...It will probably be pretty close to this...My main player is close in concept and looks minus the stealth p'up which is a kick ass idea I always thought was relegated to telecasters...

Its perfect. I have had the idea before on hiding the sc under the guard just never done it.

You're too kind Jim, thanks :)
