Lynch, Pinnick & Luzier

I like the rhythm guitar tracks. Wonder what George is playing through.

I wanted to like it, but...

His vocals are badass on other songs, but just didn't seem to fit the vibe of this one. Put Myles Kennedy in and it would rock.

Just my opinion and I suck at guitar and have never recorded anything worth listening to. What do I know?

Pinnick seems to be playing with everyone but KX lately. So is Ty I suppose. This says to me that random collaborations with random bigger-name guys is more lucrative than the mighty KX. King's X is my all-time favorite band, and while I am not pleased with their last few albums, it is certainly a sad state of affairs.

However, this is kind of cool.

From my personal vantage Dokken was music that my gf's listened to in the hairspray 80's.
you milage may vary!

It's true that Dokken is hairspray music.

George is just a convenient excuse.
I have to disagree with that for the most part. The image was all hair-band, but aside from a few sappy rockers and ballads (Just Got Lucky, Will the Sun Rise, etc) they actually had some pretty aggressive, hard rocking tunes (if you could get around the 'poppy' smooth vocals). Songs like Til the Living End, Tooth and Nail, Lost Behind the Wall, and many others were IMO far from the typical hair metal pop of Poison, Warrant, Enuff Z'Nuff, later Def Leppard, etc.

Fair enough and that comment may be backwards given that I'm 22 but for the record, Just Got Lucky is an awesome tune with great structure all around. Add to the list, Sleepless Nights, Lightnin' Strikes Again, Standing In The Shadows and compositions like Without Warning, Dokken definitely set the bar wicked high. Well, let's just say that all of BFTA and T&N set the bar high  . Not one bad tune on either of those albums although the lyrics to Standing In The Shadows bring the cheeze.

Warrant had some good stuff too and if we're talking about Leppard, Pyromania and High And Dry kick ass too. Hysteria is when things started to slip into that very well charted, 'A&R says we need a hit or you're dropped'.

Agreed, that's why I qualified my statement with "later" Def Leppard...Hysetria on to be specific

Big Lynch fan but I haven't liked anything he has done since around Sacred groove.

It looks like this project pulled some passion out of him with his playing compared to the past.
I dug it
If there is a few more good songs on this I will probably get it and check them out if they tour.

Right on. The last thing I saw of Lynch that I thought had some fire in it was some video where he was playing a version of Mr. Scary sitting in front of a mixing desk. I think it was for headbangers ball or something? He was in the middle of playing & his ring was getting in the way so he just flung it off and kept wailing. The guy is a monster when he's on, but when he's off he sounds like me trying to imitate him!
My verdict is still out on this until I hear the whole thing, but it seems promising. Luzier is an excellent creative drummer & Pinnick has some great pipes and songwriting chops. Could be just the kick in the ass that Lynch needs. I didn't see any fingerless gloves. ;)

I can't wait for this record to come out! Love Lynch and Pinnick, and Luzier proves to be a damn fine drummer from this clip. I can't wait to hear what sort of material they come up with in full.

i am an long time kings x fan and happy to see this
george has never really been paired with a vocalist that was on the same level as him AND had soul.
This should be great ,I like what I am hearing but then again it's hard for DuG to sound bad no matter who he is working with.

as for GL"jumping around" too much,I applaud his musical journey and respect the fact that he is searching and trying different things as opposed to recreating dokken/lynch mob over and over again-and I was not a dokken fan-but always liked GL's solos

Yeah, but it was the shit back in the mid to late 80's especialy for those of us who were teenagers or young adults back then!!! I was a huge fan of the band and especially George. T&N, ULAK, and BFTA kicked ass with BFTA being the best of the bunch IMO.

Luzier is a monster. Army of Anyone is a must own just for Luzier if anything else...the fact that it may be one of the most underrated albums of the last decade is another. Heck even Roth's, DLR Band is a gem with Ray on it.

Yes indeed.

This. As much as I love the old shredding, I am a HUGE KX fan..got to see them do Gretchen from beginning to end at a club in 89 in St Paul...I was hooked ever since. Of course, I also went to see KISS in 83 only to see George and Dokken open for them lol...cool stuff.

The songwriting ain't bad, the production is pretty good...

dem drums?

i was texting with george last night. Hes really excited about this project. But i think hes going to flake on the lunch he owes me.

I have very mixed feelings abt this particular song. I'm kinda waiting for it to take off and it kinda does but then it doesn't.

Everything should be in place, Lynch is good, I like Pinnick's vocals, Luzier's really good, the tune itself isn't that bad but still I just don't gel with it.

Something's wrong with me?!
