Fast forward to 3:00. Lynch talks about Mike Fortin....Also interesting to note that Lynch has had a hand in helping design some modern amps. The Randall HG100 was a collaboration from Lynch and he turned Dimebag onto them. I believe he also helped with the Uberschall as well.

I don't know how much of that I actually buy though. Not taking anything away from George's playing but, he can exaggerate a bit.

Wow, it is interesting to hear George talk about his old story with Randall and Dimebag, of course his new imcoming amp with Mike Fortin. Thanx for sharing~

Dime won his first Randall in a contest along with his first Dean guitar.

I do not ever remember Dimebag getting into Randalls from George. i DO Remember Dimebag Saying that he won a randall half stack in a guitar competition when he was a child and that's how he got into Randalls.

Dokken toured with Pantera in the early 80"s when nobody knew who Pantera was, and at that time they were a glam band, makeup spandex and all. I believe it was during the time of Tooth and nail, and George was using the Randall's at the time. That is what he was referring to.

I think the new amp is the headhunter amp which is what.. 3+ years in the making? Either way, it will probably be a rocking head that Lynch endorses and then doesn't use on the back line. you know, like all his other signature gear. He still has those fane cabinets and old greenback cabinets + Friedman or MArshall up there.

Actually pretty much correct. for guys like George, endorsements allow him to pay his bill and eat. He pretty much told me this when I chatted with him a couple of years ago.

Funniest things I ever saw was when George was on the Dave Navarro show, Dave was asking him to show him the Mr Scary riffs, and George was playing through his signature Zoom pedal. He referred to it as "this crappy zoom pedal" That has been since edited out! LOL Oops!

I'm aware that they were a glam band i saw them when they were and own the albums they put out back then. Dimes story was that he won a randall half stack before pantera toured with anyone. it was a local contest and i believe he was 15 or 16 at the time. i think george likes to make it seem like he knows all, great player but terrible at story telling.

Well George does have a dry sense of humor. Many years ago when Dokken was first starting out when they were on tour in Germany, he told a reporter that he gave Eddie Van Halen guitar lessons as a joke, but in his usual serious tone. Well for several year guitar magazines would repeat that George gave Eddie lessons:) LOL

Aren't journalists idiots sometimes?

Makes me think about the "anecdote" that Phil Collins discovered Philip Bailey (from Earth Wind & Fire) because he heard him sing at a gas station where Bailey was working...

Met George at NAMM this year, nice guy and I've fallen in love with the Randall lineup

Interesting how George sounds completely out of it in some interviews where he makes it seem like he knows nothing about music theory or gear. Then other times, like here, he's very knowledgeable and is a total gear head and comes off as a really cool dude.

FWIW, Kelly Garni said in an interview several years back that George was the first guy anybody saw tapping on the LA scene, before Eddie. He also said that Randy viewed George as his biggest competition before VH broke big.

+ 1. I love George, but he can be pretty fucked with some the things he said.
My favorite was when he was on the Dave Navarro show. He seriously claimed that Jimi Hendrix knew theory and Allan Holdsworth doesn't know any. :D

Why does it sound like TTK introduces them as being at Winter NAMM 2003 ?
