Quick sound demonstration "video" of some Kemper profiles that were either in the Kemper from the factory or downloaded from the rig exchange. No tweaking, just direct sound. I played the same riff over and over so it might get boring and also named the profile and author.

some sound great some, have a lil blanket over speaker .but you could probably change cab tweak eq and fix that .
The amp factory profiles I have heard seem to breathe a lil better and have more cut .
The Stratotone XTC red and Bogner/Fortin are wicked as well
your DSL sounds good

Thats a good way to describe it, a blanket over the speaker. Maybe to much compression?

Thanks for posting, not sure if it's just me but I'm hearing a lot of fizz. This demo assures me that I don't NEED a Kemper, just one solid amp sound.

Dont think that way. I think there's something either on or off that shouldn't be. I have a buddy that has one of these and he prefers it over the Axe II.

I like some profiles and others not so much. Those were just plugged into my laptop and played...I'm positive I could get them to sound better with some tweaking. It sounds great through my DSL with the 4CM.

Thanks for the clip. The funny thing about the blanket thing, you could say the same thing for any amp. All of the Amp Factory tones I have downloaded are awesome. I have mic'ed up my amps (Bogner XTC and Fortin, etc) and they could sound 100% different from clip to clip. Some tweaking always helps.

Was this the result of the reamp thread? Cool stuff!

No. I actually played it that many times.

I am very curious about the Kemper. I had the Axe FX Ultra and tried everything possible to make it work in a live application and it just did not work for me. Does the Kemper do good in a live setting? My other question is the majority of the clips I have heard sound great but the differences mainly seem to be EQ type changes.I guess what I am wondering is , can you feel the changes as far as pick attack, dynamics, and how are the low/mid gain tones?

You can definitely get great dynamics and feel with these profiles. It reacts extremely well to the guitars volume knob well. Here are a couple of clips where I try to demo some of what you are asking about. One is done with a Vox AC30 and the other is a Marshall Super Lead (Plexi) profile.

Great Job Rich!!

The thing with the Kemper or any modeler IMHO is that some sounds are going to sound amazing and others, not so much... The other thing is, what sounds great to one person might sound like shite to another and a clip that sounds great alone might not sound good in a mix or vice versa. I can say that I actually don't like a majority of the stock profiles in the Kemper but when you find one that you dig, you will have a HUGE smile on your face. I also think that having the ability to clone your own rig is KEY because it allows you to capture a tone that you know that you already dig and it allows you to carry that around with you in a smaller foot print. I also experienced the Blanket effect on some profiles but some of them will actually fit in a mix like that but the good thing is that any of the profiles that have that effect can be altered not to have it. all you have to do in most cases is add some subtle EQ and it fixes a lot of that. You have options is what I'm saying ;)

I really dig the Kemper and I plan on using it live and when I get bored, I'll lug my tube amps back out and then when I get bored of that I'll go back to the Kemper LMAO... Point is that I don't find the need to fit the assumption that now that I own the kemper I need to sell everything LOL. We as guitar players are fickle and are always looking to switch things up. Guys like Lukather and a ton of Other pros do the same thing ;) it's part of playing guitar IMHO.

+1 for subtle eq changes making a HUGE difference to getting rid of the blanket sound.

The Kemper works very well live, That's all I am using mine for right now. I am getting a really good tone live without lugging the tube amps. The end result the front of house is hearing through the pa is every bit as good, or even better than what I would get a most gigs with my tube amp being miced up. The soundguys I have dealt with have been extremely happy with it.

It's not a perfect unit, but I am 100% happy I bought one and it is nice having all the tone options in one box. The dynamics are really good with the Kemper for the most part. There are a couple profiles that don't respond as well as others to volume knob changes on the guitar.

What amp were you using live before the Kemper?

It sounds to me as if all these samples are just one amp, with a good EQ in the loop. :dunno:

Great riff though; chords, single notes and palm muting all in one short bit.

That's what I hear- and all the samples share the same type of buzziness.
I am not at all convinced by the Kemper.

Highly agree

There are many profiles that sound alike...mainly profiles by the same guy or those using the same cabs. I'm not sure what was used on many of them. I kinda picked them randomly and said go with it. I do hear difference in the character of many of them though. The amp factory amps are just great IMO but I haven't played much with those yet as I've only had this for a week now.

Do you want a Rolex or a knock off ?
That's the question you need to answer for yourself.

Not getting your point. I guess I'll go out and spend about $100,000 and pick up all these real amps. I never said any of this was better than the other...go troll somewhere else...it's all good here.
