If by some chance I find one of these used can I run it through the power section of my mark IV? Just though the effects loop?

Are there disadvantages to doing this?

Don't see why you couldn't and I know of no disadvantage. I used to run mine through the power section of my Uberschall and it was pretty damn killer.

Pretty much had the tone covered by all the other crap I have. I also prefer everything in one nice package. Never been a big fan of preamps and power amps and all the rack stuff. To me nothing matches the look of a head on top of a 2 or 4 x12 cabinet. The MAKO stuff is built like a tank. I will own another just probably in head form.

absolutely! I run my Mak4 through my VHT power section every once in a while to change things up and it sounds killer in my configuration. Just run the output into the loop return and you are good to go.

Awesome! I just bought a Mak 4 with a VHT 2502 so I won't have to run it through my head after all, but I'm going to test it out anyway and see how it compares. I can't wait for it to get here.

Awesome pairing right there

Nice match - I ran mine through the 2/90/2 and it was killer.

The Mak4 to this day, IMHO, is one of the best values and best quality preamps available. Change up the glass and you've got some seriously sweet tones at extremely low noise.

Andrew makes great products.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it. According to the seller the MAK 4 is loaded with new JJ's (which from what I understand is what Andrew intended it to be paired with) and the VHT with new Tung Sols.

And it's the V2 so it should be less noisy than the V1's

I agreed with Andrew's usage of JJs, but I ended up going with GL-ECC83, 5751s, TungSols, and the like. It totally changed the feel, and Andrew was cool and receptive to my change ups and wanted to know what went where. It was good. But, the stock set up?? All good. All VERY good.
