You would probably be the man to ask about poweramps. What's your favorite for a tight big thumpy lowend? I want to try a VHT badly, but I'm a little worried it will be too dry for me. I like a tiny bit of sag. Any recommendations? I see you've also used those huge Rivera poweramps. Badass?
Everything sounds the same to me. I don't care about anything any more.![]()

Actually, Yes, the Riveras have a little more sag. I attribute a lot of this to the fact that 6550's are dry and tight as hell in ANY amp.![]()

thanks for the Rivera info, any particular models to look for?
TBR-3 hammer 120 = practical, more than loud enough, still over the top awesome. Cheaper to retube the TBR-5. Weighs a LOT less than the TBR-5. Fairly easy to work on. etc.
I´ve used my TBR1 rack head (which has a power section that probably is fairly similar to the TBR3 Hammer at 60+60W) as a poweramp for preamps from time to time... and it´s hugely powerful and sounds bloody great. People don´t talk about them much, but they are world-class poweramps and basically what the Marshall poweramps should have been.
