Man, 412 cainets just flat out rock!

another 4x12 that i liked was the first 5150 cab.
played the half stack the week it was released and thought the head was so so but when i plugged my mesa mark III into the cab it killed

then i took my triaxis stereo rack rig into the shop and fired up 2 5150 4x12s in stereo, though a peavey classic 120 stereo power amp i was interested in.

the store manager took down exactly what i had in my rack so he could go out and buy exactly what i had for his rig. it sounded really good!
 
I have always favored 4x12's even at small venues or lower bedroom type of volumes. I have five of them...

I use mine split apart about 10 feet and play between the 2 cabs.....literally a wall of tone! :thumbsup:

That's a pretty modest bedroom set up.

Can you do pentatonic?? :lol: :LOL:

Their designs have enough differences in them to end up with a different sound, one which I can appreciate, so I'm happy with what they're doing. Once upon a time I'd be in search of something "really different" conceptually, but I found that led to chasing my tail based on presumptions of "better technology" "solving my tone problems", when all I really wanted is something I preferred for whatever reason I did. :)

I'm considering getting a third VB 412 from them...

My favorite cab is a 80's Peavey 4x12 .... The speakers I have in it now are Greenbacks on top / V30 on bottom. I like the cab better than any other cab I have heard .... regardless of what speakers are in it. I also have a 80's Peavey 2x12 with the stock Celestion K85.... these speakers are now know as K100.
 
No replacement for displacement.

Wish they weren't such a pain to lug around though. Gave some thought a while back taking a shot at building a 4x12 out of fiberglass with a birch front baffle (something that's being often these days in speaker building). If you could get one to sound like a wooden cab, it would be a total backsaver.

lol, yeah only when I play boogie-woogie-can't stop my leg type of music which is not very often as thats not my cup of tea.

I took a different approach to the problem of cab weight: I started exercising more. :)
 
No question, 4X12s sound best. Not always fun to load, but they def sound best IMO. I need to get a good hand cart for the big rig :thumbsup:
 
Who's complaing about about moving 4x12's??

I've got four 4x12's, and one OS 2x12.
I wouldn't keep the 2x12 if it didn't sound so huge though....

Very true, our opinion and tastes can change like the wind. But once I had a chance to spend more time at rehearsal with a 412 and 212, I must admit, I am finally coming around! I am not worthy! LOL! :)

Someone mentioned the Splawn 212 and yes it sounds good but the Stone Age 212 and Bogner 212 beat it out!
