Yeah, if I was doing YouTube as a living I would be doing everything I can to have other streams of revenue. Even YT eventually will be over taken, as monolithic as it is. Hopefully one day there’ll be some decent competition but I’m not sure competition is in the playbook anymore in the U.S.

Everyone has tried to compete with it, but the problem is YTs integration with google and apple. It's always going to be the default because of that.

Even it being a monopoly wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't for the absolutely DOGSHIT management at youtube.

The whole copyright system and the content moderation is some of the craziest, most draconian in existence - how many times do you have to hear "unaliving" or "graping' or some orwellian newspeak because of the YT overlords?

This is the shit I find really troubling. The control of basic allowable language. Nothing solves issues like not being allowed to say their descriptive names 🤪. It’s the, words are violence mentality that is a curse on a free society.
I’ve seen clips of shows or movies where they will fuzz out a simple kiss but I’ve also seen full on nudity and bodies exploding or disembowlment. Honestly I don’t get the management of the platform at all.
