I was surfing Youtube lastnight looking for examples of Lonestar recordings. I came across one of Marco Sfogli's clips...very impressive. I've never heard this guy before so I did a little more research and found that he has just released his first CD (correction, released in 2008...I'm such a shut-in   .) In a word...AWESOME!!! Great playing and writing. This is in the vein of Steffen Schackinger and Andy Timmons...I love this stuff!

If you want a good example of the Lonestar this is a great CD.

Hi leecs,
I used ALOT of stuff to record There's Hope. In no particular order, a Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp (mainly for rhythms), a TriAxis, the Lonestar (on tunes like Seven or Spread the Disease aswell as the country tone), Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 (leads on There's Hope and Still Hurts), a Lexicon MPXG2 (lead on Farewell), overdrives like the Mi-Audio Tube zone and Blue Boy, a Boss CS-3 (on Texas BBQ) and a Morley Bad Horsie wah. The rest was all plugins from ProTools.

Hope this helps
Marco

Just letting you know that the album is far from just a Lonestar tone. ;)

Very cool...I like the idea he's not married to one single piece of gear. I'll have to find and post a link to the Youtube he did demonstrating the Lonestar. :D

Hmmm...sorry, I guess I just don't know that much about him to understand your post. ;)

He used an EBMM JP until he got Rash to make a clone of the guitar and put his name on it. He used to use the Air Norton/Steve's Special until JP swapped to the D-Sonic. Then he swapped the bridge to the D-Sonic in his sig models. He uses DiMarzio straps, EB strings, Dunlop Jazz III picks, Mesa amps and cabs... He also is using an Axe-Fx. Does any of this sound familiar at all?

Hahaha...!  Why, yes, yes it does.  Funny, I don't think his tone is much like JP's...'must be in da fingers...

Listen to Elements of Persuasion. You'll hear it more in that album.

I should note that none of this takes away from him and his great sense of melody. The guy is a awesome player.

Although I dig Dream Theater, I'm not much of a James Labrie fan and that's one reason I missed Marco Sfogli. And, even though my main guitar is an EBMM Y2D, I have to admit I never heard of Rash guitars...there sure are some similiarities.
