Serial Number is key. It must be between around 11,500 - 14000. The best way to check is the effects loop. Check here for info.

Actually, that web page says the serial should be between 12,500 and 14999.

I was off by a thousand  . It's really not 100% accurate though as i had a IIC+ that was 12,337. The effects loop is THE way to check.

In the market for a IIC+ head, not a combo. The Boogie Files website pretty much nails down what to look for. Looking for that particular tone to add to the mix and the collectibility of something a little rare.

Steve

You can order a head shell from Boogie. That's what I did. Depending on the situation, I put the chassis in either. Plus, with the combo, you can still disconnect the speaker and run to a different cab/cabs.

In other words, don't let a good one get away because it's in combo form. Let's face it - if you can spring for a IIC+, a $300-$350 headshell ain't putting you out, either.

Gotcha, and point well taken!

Some people like them better with out the EQ. Myself very much like the EQ and would not be very interested in one without. I have owned a II, III and still have my IV. I would look for the coliseum the 150 watt model if I was going to get one myself. But that's me.....

Why would you go for the coliseum model? Just curious. I always thought 150Watts was way overkill for anything I would be doing and I run my mark IV in half power mode 99% of the time anyway. Does the coliseum amp just have much bigger transformers and therefore sounds beefier?

I have heard clips of a IIC+ and III Coli with the same mic placement, sig chain, etc and the Coli was more aggressive and had some snarl. Some would like it and some would not but there is a difference.

I thought I could not live without the eq but everytime I brought my IV I had to turn it off to cut, just fought that amp. Love it whe I am alone but in the mix it is tweak tweak tweak.

I had been eyeing the IIc+ market for many years. Right now is the best time to buy. I recommend getting a combo if you have to and then getting a new headshell for it.

If you can get simul class, it lets you run EL34s with 6l6 tubes. Coliseum is overkill.

Dont get a IIC and upgrade because they dont sound the same and resale sucks since you can now get IIC+s for around 1800.

I searched for a long time till I finally found my Mesa C+ long head with all options including simul class, eq and reverb. It did not have hardwood or export transformer which is no big deal.

I recommend waiting till one thats fully loaded shows up.

Untrue. A IIC modded to C+ specs IS a C +, as long as its done by Mike B. Perhaps recently, they've changed something in the modding process, but all the modded C's done in the 90s & prior are legit C+s now.

An original IIC+ for $1800? Where? I'll take five right now at that price.....
