Saw this and reminded me how much RT loves this amp. He is "asking" $1,200. San Antonio.

 
Was just looking at this. Guy is local to me too. Sells a lot of gear.

Does that headshell look too tall though? Guess it's an aftermarket.

Definitely a third party head shell. Too tall. Price is fair.
 
Wondering if the IV is a combo conversion? I think my O/C nature would not allow that 'wide and tall look' :LOL:

I've seen IV's in the sub $1,000 range as well so it would probably come down to what tubes are in it.
 
I hate when people make after market cabinets that aren't the same size as stock. it looks wonky, and i don't care how good you are at making cabinets, if its not a real mesa, its pretty much worthless on the resale market. sorry, but it just is :D

What’s so hard about making it the right size?
 
people like to "improve the design". The stock cabs are very small, and tighter than (insert analogy here). Mesa makes very efficient use of space, over all, in everything they do. :ROFLMAO:

People make them larger so you can actually get your hands in there to change tubes. or that the airflow is better for keeping it cool, or whatever. most short head mark cabinets are so small that tall power tubes requiring some slick, wiggling to get them in (again...keep your minds out of the gutter)., and forget changing pre tubes on the fly, unless you have the latest generation mark headshell with the velcro front plate, and holes in the cab "sub face" for changing tubes from the front.
 
I think it's a great idea if the goal is not to have to route out the bottom of the cabinet
to fit the reverb tank. Really dislike how much it protrudes on the stock head and can
interfere sitting on top of some cab handles.
 
Definitely a combo conversion. I have MKIVA "wide head" and definitely doesn't look like that.
 
still a combo conversion really doesnt have to be different from the head. Thing is nobody builds them right except Mesa. I bought a zilla headshell that had the wrong size and a few other issues. If I was still in the market I would get it and just buy a headshell from Mesa. once I got one direct from Mesa it looks great.
 
I'd just rock that cab. On the Mesa cabs where do you put the footswitch when moving/traveling? My MkIV was a combo and the footswitch attached to the back of the amp such that it was flush with the back. Does that work on the heads? That and the reverb pan is right underneath and then add the fan (for 100W or Simul) just makes it really tight in there.

My Heartbreaker has the reverb sticking out on the bottom. If you ask me it sucks. Anyone have any idea why they do this ?????

A big part of Mesa all along has been fitting 20 pounds into everyone else's 10 pound sacks. :giggle:

The original Mark I was a 12", 100 watt fire breathing monster packed into a 10", 12 watt Fender combo!

The Petrucci headshell is the same way.
And God forbid if you pull the power cord from the bottom of the chassis.
It's a real bitch to get it back in.

Nice price on the IV though

There should be a note in the manual.

WARNING: The big bad ass transformer in your amp has edges that will draw blood.
We recommend these for inserting your AC cord, :ROFLMAO:

I needed a shorter power cord.
I ended up pulling the amp out of the headshell so no blood loss brother.

Those things with the black handles, Are the some sort of nose hair pullers?

The Mark 3 I just got has a hard wired AC cord that's about 30 feet long.
And my wall outlet is about a foot from the head. :ROFLMAO:
