Can the rack mount model be "readily" put into a shell? If so, which one?

It can be put into a mesa short head shell, or one of the combo cabinets from mesa.

Call Mesa Hollywood. I did the same thing a few years back. New Mesa shell will run about $300.

Check the Boogie board and Ebay. They pop up regularly for 75-150 depending on condition.

Gracias, gents! Gotta see if I can close this deal first. Looks like my JCM900 and Chupa might be moving down the road. :( But man...it's a Mk IV... Been on my bucket list for MANY years.

Yeah I just got one last week for a spare and funny enough I haven't touched either of my other amps since it arrived.

I'm thinking a Splawn Quick Rod, Mesa Mk IV, and Friedman-modded JCA20H should cover all the bases for me, and then I can concentrate on that last piece of the puzzle - a Shiva! :)

I'll be running all these through a T75-loaded Marshall 1960A, but hopefully I'll be getting a Greenback loaded 1960BX soon... Seems to me that T75's are alright for the Mk IV, but I can't wait to land the Greenback cab. Tried one head to head with a T75 & V30 cab. No contest! It also confirmed that my ears ABSOLUTELY HATE V30's in a closed cab.

Do you know if they'll do a head case for something as old as a DC-5? I guess the answer is to call. :D

Man I just got back from Guitar Center and they had a MK IV there that I played with for a little bit through a Mesa 4x12(regular size). First time I've played one since 1990 and the same thing happened. I could not get a tone I liked out of that thing. I thought the EMGs in the guitar I was playing might have a weak battery so I swapped guitars and same thing. Back in 1990 a MK IV was on my list of amps I might buy as my main and only amp for recording, practice and shows. Luckily the guy at the music store was into my band and offered to bring his Mark IV over so that I could try it out in a band type setting. I just couldn't get it to sound good to my ears. Ended up buying a Marshall JCM900 and was played that rig for the next 5 years. I've heard some killer tones with the Mark IV live and on recordings so I know they are in there. I guess I just didn't know the secret pass word.
