Marsha(Friedman) Footswitch question

I have the kitchen sink(BE,HBE,SAT, C45,FAT...) and a simple clean (knob on back). Is it possible to control BE, HBE, AND the Simple Clean through the provided footswitch?

No, you have to manually switch between BE and HBE then you can FS between Clean and BE or HBE depending where you have the switch set.

Adding a second set of footswitchable master and gain controls is a great option. I use the BE setting with the gain around 12:00 for rhythms and dimed for leads with a volume boost via the second master. I'm now playing around with the HBE in a similar way but so far I like the BE voicing a bit better.

So that means you get BE and Simple Clean switched if cord is in BE jack

or

HBE and Simple Clean if cord is in HBE jack


What are others using in terms of a manual switch between the BE and HBE?

The problems that is posed is that the HBE has no variables in terms of gain; the amount of gain you get out of it preset. You're probably going to have better luck with switchable masters, plugged into the HBE with one set of gains and masters set cleaner and the other being more gainy. The HBE can sound almost the same as BE, and to be honest you can get a BETTER (more cohesive, less farty) high gain sound if you have switchable master where your high gain channel is the BE with the SAT switch engaged via a relay. Basically a 3 channel amp. Dave's done a few of these and they are pretty rippin'.

We always talk about discontinuing the HBE at the shop. It just doesn't sound nearly as good as the SAT switch, and the SAT switch is a whole lot easier to install than another preamp tube. And it's half the price...

Oh, and that won't work because when you dont have anything plugged into the BE it switches the HBE on via the jack, so I think you'll only get the BE.

Try master 1 gain 9:00 HBE/Sat. Master 2 gain 12:00 HBE/Sat.
