Ok I have a chance to pick up either one of these cabs for a great price. But I'm not able to try out both. I will be using a 5150 and a Mesa Roadster mostly with which one I end up with. Any recommendations or suggestions would be great! Thanks

Not a fan of the 65's. I've heard lotsa good things about the MF cabs, but haven't personally plugged into one. They are the "sleeper" Marshall cab for sure though.

If you had a Marshall it's 65s for the win. They're similar to a high powered GB. But I've never played through an MF400. Owned a 280, great cab. 65s are rare, MF 400s are easier to find..though kinda rare too. But I always seem to find used 400s on GCs website or music go rounds...

Well I have a Ceriatone Yeti that fits the Marshall voicing. Right now I use a Marshall
1960ax with greenbacks. Love that combo, but my Mesa doesn't really work well with it and I was thinking of picking up a cab that might better suit it. It's a tough call for me. The 5150 works with the Greenback can but it could be a little cleaner.

I have a 2C+, and it sounds great with 65s. Doesn't help with the Recto...but I will say the 65s have less top end than a normal GB..I would say they're kinda like a V30 but much softer mids and highs, no spike there. But the bottom isn't as tight as a V30. The 100s I've read have a great tight low end, not sure about the mids or highs. I did have a Jubilee combo with an old 80s G12 100, that was a great speaker..but I don't know the difference between that and the MF 100s..I'm sure if you don't dig 65s they'll move fast.

I have a buddy that uses 2 mf cabs with his Evh 5153 stealth. To me the are more recto like than standard Marshall cabs.

It's personal preference of course but I sold my 1960 cabs with various speakers and kept my mf400 cab. The 100's are balanced imo and seem to like most amps instead of being"ampcentric". It handles high volume like a champ and has really tough handles and wheels. Only Marshall I've ever owned that didn't have flimsy handles. Built like a tank and even though it's a couple inches taller is tighter than my old recto cab stays tight.

If you have a Yeti, and you like it with GBs, just understand that with 65s it will be darker, smoother, and little more "round" in the lows with 65s. And you have to crank the 65s louder to get them to sound really good. But they are great speakers either way. I prefer the GBs with amps like the Yeti/Chupa. And they are great for high-gain as well (Framus Cobra cab, for example). I also used V30s with my Yeti and it sounds fantastic.
