Anyone played both? They both have VERY similar speakers in them.

I picked up an AX cabinet (made in 2003, used, for a pretty good price) and paired it with my 5150III 100W head. I like the sound.... not sure I love it... but am curious if I should go for the matching cab for the head instead.

The speakers are very similar.

I can do a straight up trade with a local guy. My 1960ax for his 5150III.

I play rock/metal at home mostly, but not really crazy brutal stuff. I'll probably get back into my cover band sometime in the next 6 months and that band is all over the place as far as song selection. Requires nice cleans all the way to hard rock crunch.

Biggest difference probably will be the difference between slant vs straight cabs. Try both. Everyone has their preference. Lots of folks think that straight cans sound beefier, but IMHO it's just the effect of all the speakers aimed below your waist. I have a hard time dialing in a straight an to sound good for most I the room. Slant seems less directional.

G12 Ms are different than the evh celestion heritage-Ms are brighter to me. Most like heritages best, but your cab is worth more...I liked a Marshall VM cab best with my 5153. G12 C greenies are nice.

If you can, try them side by side. I LOVE the EVH-cab, sounds fantastic both with My EVH 100w and my Laney Vh100r.

The EVH cab sounds amazeballs. But the main reason to get one is shits got to match
