Like I need another 4x12,,,,
BUT,I dont have a 4x12 anymore with "Celestion" Greenbacks.

So,which cab. Thoughts?

i would do some searhces on the chinese reissue vs. the heritage (as those are the respective speakers).

some really like the 'give' and crunch on the heritage - others like how the reissue holds together a little more and has more bottom (only relative to the heritage i mean).

for me, i think depends on type of genre and how heavy on the distortion.

from construction standpoint, id be ok with either cab.

I've only experience with the Chinese which I like quite a bit. Never played the Heritage/EVH Greenies (they're the same. just different labels). From what I've been told, they're not as toppy as the Chinese ones off the bat and have a good crunch give, like journeyman said. That being said, I enjoy the 4x12 of G12Ms that I have and think they're fantastic with my DSL.

Only played the 5153 cab with the matching head and it was too "fuzzy" sounding for my tastes. So my vote out of those would be the Chinese greenies.

What about the new Celestion 65w Creambacks? I should be trying those out in a couple of weeks as my buddy just got some. Supposedly a fine blend of the old / new Greenies that can also handle more power.

I suggest you watch victim5150's videos. The EVH cab is not fuzzy at all

Thats right. No fizzy fuzzy tone there.

I owned an AX cab, just didn't work out for me, so I sold it and now have the EVH 4x12.

I bought the AX second hand 6 months ago from a guy who bought it in 2008. I lived with it for a while, but overall I found it very bright and pokey in the high mids. I took the speakers out, ran 60hz sine-waves thru them for 20 hours each to burn them in more, helped a little but turned out to not be a great combination for that amp even tho the GM25's were UK made.

I went to a local store and lined up 4 quads in a row and the EVH cab smoked them all, it wasn't even close.
I used my EVH 50watt mini, blue channel, front settings at noon, back resonance at 9 o'clock, no effects, Les Paul straight in playing open rocks chords with a few chugs thrown in for good measure.

Other quads were a Kustom with Vintage 30's, (was ok, a bit harsh), a brand new 1960AX (an ice pick fight), big Orange 4x12 with V30's (was ok, but sounded just like a deeper Kustom), and the EVH, great lows and mids, smooth highs and just a great overall tone. I'm a gainiac who likes to play loud-ish so the straight EVH was always going to have an edge with me over the angled cabs.
