Opinions? Anyone have both an Aldrich mod and a Levi #34 mod or a Friedman mod
and have an opinion or comparison? I have an opportunity to buy a late '70's JMP
with the Aldrich mod from Cameron. I also have an opportunity to buy one with a
Levi #34 mod. I like the sound of both. Just curious what the opinions might be out there.

They're all different flavors of the same ice cream basically.

Camerons are nice but vary amp to amp [alot]. And the bass & treble can be quite exaggerated but adjustable usually.

I have a Friedman JMP and its da shit, Dave preserves the base tone of the JMP and enhances it while making it "brown" at the same time. He will build you the amp of your dreams, at least he did for me.

Never played a Levi but Franks been around a long time and his work isn't cheap.

Im sure you will find these amps a big departure from your amp with a cupholder. ;)

I had Friedman do an amp for me... awful.
I have a Cameron Atomica... awesome.
No Levi experience.

One of the best amps I have ever had was a 50 watt JCM800 with Cameron Aldrich mod, it sounded great and felt amazing to play. I didn't even know it when I had it, but I guess it had a Bogner Shiva transformer in it. But man, it was a great amp. I have had other Cameron modded amps, but that one just ripped, plus it had added toggles on rear for a handful of cool tone shaping capabilities. It was AWESOME!!

Cameron might be a thief and cheat, but damn, he can get amps sounding great. What a shame he cant get his act together. If he paid everyone back, and started an amp line, he could salvage his name probably? I know some guys wouldn't give that guy a squirt of piss, but others would. He definitely knows his way around an amp. Probably the best modded Marshalls I have played were Camerons.

Have had 5 Camerons through my door..all were great and better than any other modded Marshalls I've tried, which include Friedmans, Lee Jackson, Golub, FJA, Fortin, Gower, Voodoo, and some others I've forgotten. All of those others were good sounding amps but the Camerons had something MORE. 4 Aldrich and a one off modern mod in a 2203 RI. Killer.

I think the Cameron would be easiest to flip if you didn't care for it.

How many Camerons have you had in the cave?

Thanks for the feedback. I played a friends amp that was modded by both Frank Levi and Dave Friedman. A '74 Marshall Superlead.
It sounds amazing! So, that's why I was looking for some feedback/comparison, etc. The Aldrich mod sounds pretty killer. I think
I'll pull the trigger.

Ive heard quite a few and every one was different. Back in 2011 i considered sending Mark my JMP but the consensus here and everywhere i checked was there was a good chance i would never see my amp again.

It was very confusing but in the end it all worked out.

I would only buy a Cam Aldrich if i could play it first and pick it up.

You can find #34 mods online, so most reputable amp modders could apply the mod if you ever end up with a stock JMP. I don't see any schematics for Mark's Aldrich mod according to Dr. Google.

I don't know of any other amp that sounds like an Aldrich. I'd say go for it and you can always flip it here.

That's the thing about Camerons..the way he tinkers with it AS he mods assures no two will ever have the exact same component values. So if you do have a schematic, good luck. Might be cool in the end but rest assured its not a true Cameron.
