Marshall amps has to be the most F'd up amp company

man this was the baddest stock Marshall I have played thru.
It is a monster.

I'm so sick and tired of these "signature" amps and guitars are pedals and blah blah blah.
How about just make a nice versatile amp so that the SIGNATURE is dialed in by the player who bought the damn thing!

That map is a one trick pony. If you want a tone like Kind, then go ahead and pay big bucks for an amp that has one channel and some added gate and a PRE set "signature" eq curve.
What a waste of engineering.
But, slap that M logo on there and the kids will go wild thinking they've just become a Metal monster, just like their hero.

Marshall should should laterally diversify with King's 'signature' guitar maker, and then will King's "signature" shoes, pants, shirts, and wigs and the people who have no self identity can simply buy somebody else's and be the local high school's PRE sold guitar HERO!
I expect royalty's from any company/company's who use my idea.

I hate Kerry king...I hate his tone...his guitars...his tatoos...his hair(sic)...his beard...
But that amp is AMAZING...
The EQ curve is not that "slayery"...not a metal monster at all !!!
After slayer don't use a lot of gain...
I have used this amp a lot playing in a hard rock cover band without ANY mods at all...(just a bit of biasing)

When I went to my amp tech to built me a custom handmade amp I took this head with me...
For me it's the best mashall since the late 80's...
If it wasn't a KK signature I think it would sell even MORE...
So bad advertising is the problem for Marshall...
Less signature,more current production models would be better...

I think Marshall is working to compete on a number of fronts. The new DSL line is trying to compete with blackstar. They are also trying to compete with with the modded marshall companies, and trying to compete with Mesa, EVH, etc. They are fighting on a number of fronts, whether they are winning is the question, but they are putting up a fight.

Here are some misses that I see Marshall has done in recent years:
1. Took them a few years to release the Class 5 head. They should have released the head version from the start
2. The Class 5 should have had a switchable master volume control, would have made it much more useful
3. The YJM100 is discontinued in the US, I thought this amp was a win from the clips. But its not a current model in the USA
4. The SL5 is also discontinued in the US. Other than the lack of an effects loop, the SL5 looks pretty cool, but again not a current model in the USA

The YJM is one of the best amps that I've played in recent years...period. If I didn't already own a "booteek" hot-rodded Marshall, I would have one without a doubt (and I still might grab one if I see a decent deal). To say it feels artificial makes absolutely no sense to me...it's about as real as it gets without plugging into a vintage Super Lead. I would have to believe anybody with that opinion didn't get it much louder than conversation level.
The 1959RR is also a great amp...in fact, I contend that its stock channel sounds as good if not better than any of the vintage 1959s that I've had/played. The modded channel actually doesn't do much other than offer a bit of a gain boost that changes the feel more than the sound...I rarely even plug into it as I prefer the flexibility of an outboard boost with the normal channel.

That's what I'm saying. I have not played the YJM, but artificial (or contrived) is how I'd explain it. Doesn't feel real organic to me and certainly doesn't have the note definition of other amps in that price range. Sure you can get some decent tones from Green OD2 or Orange and yes the cleans are pretty good with the built in reverb. But for $2,400 I would expect more - not just decent. Granted that is a US price for something made in the UK. A new Quick Rod is what $1,900 and almost as versatile. MOST of us here like Marshalls, I just think that some of us are saying we 'WISH' or we 'THINK' they could do better.

And remember, there are only 1,500 YJMs out there? WTF?

I had the Attenuator set at 80W and the Volumes at 7. It was way beyond conversation volumes.

I was referring to the JVM and I didn't make that clear.

Same here... Marshalls are great.

I just acquired another one this morning I've had an eye out for a while. It's a vintage modern 100w head and I'm seriously looking forward to some rehearsal room time with it. I have two hours booked before the band shows up to crank it up loud and throw some pedals, guitars and a couple of different cabs through it.

I also have a TSL100, JVM410h and a JCM900 4100 DR. I'm pretty happy with Marshall!
