Today I swapped this stuff out of my 1960A from 1991. Some people say it's 20ga but I think it's 24ga. Pretty bad.
I didn't go too much bigger by using 18ga but what I used is some nice and good wire.
The rest of the cabs internal screws were all still super tight. But I did replace the back panel screws and finish washers with extras I had because the old ones were brutal.
The cab sounds fantastic after the rewire. Better than after only sealing the handles.
It's bigger sounding also "quicker" to respond if that makes sense. What you play immediately leaps out the front with no sag or lag feeling.
The cab is setup now as single jack 16 ohm mono in series/parallel.
I tossed the 35 year old circuit board but keep the original plate with the help of some washers. I also put weather stripping inside over the unused jack and switch holes. Oh and yes, the label maker treatment...
