Now, I love my Mesa stuff and I think my Traditional 4x12 sounds better than my Marshall 1960 cabs, but there is just something so rock n roll about a beat up Marshall cab. It doesn't hurt that you can find them for dirt cheap. Toss in your favorite speaker and your set! And if you're close micing it live, it really doesn't matter. Well, unless you are using your cab to monitor with.

What do you guys think?

I have a pair of beat to shit checkered 4x12s that are awesome. . .but, my Bogner 4x12 sounds better.

But, there is something very cool about the two Marshalls side by side.

I will agree and expound ... there is nothing cooler looking than a full stack or 2 of the ol' Black & Gold. Get the best of both worlds and buy Splawn! LOL!

NOTHING says Rock n Roll like Marshall!

I have a 1960A that I picked up for $200 that sounds pretty good. It does what it's supposed to do anyway. I would like to replace the grill cloth to checkered though. Too bad I lack the skill to do it.

Marshall = Satan
Nothing else is rock like Marshall and six strings.

The higain, newest tech BS can just bow in the dust to this...

According the latest rig rundown, Billy Corgan uses the same 4 Marshall Jcm900 1960 cabs he has had since the Melancholy tour. Damn that's refreshing!

nothing like a good marshall cab, they are more up front sounding then a bogner or mesa but I like that about them. If you can't get it done with a good marshall cab with the right speakers then you can't get it done PERIOD...

i have a TRASHED 800 cab, with original celestion g12h-100 speakers and it can and will handle any amp i've thrown at it.

it's currently X-patterned with t75/s and the 100s...but im going to put it back to just the h100's

it's beat. needs retolexed. was falling apart when i got it..so i reinforced it internally with some lumber and some glue, some new shiny screws and whatnot...and i rope caulked the handles and the rear panel. i've though about replacing the rear MDF panel with some real wood...but i just cant bring myself to do it.

im thinking about retolexing it, and putting new oxblood grillcloth on it too.i might even do that first.

i bought it for 100$ i think, or 200$ from one of my buddies.
can't beat that.

That's gorgeous!

I have a 1990 AX cab loaded with Scumbacks (I put them in) that a kid on craigslist traded to me last year for an Orange 2x12. No matter what I use I keep coming back to Marshall cabs.

First slant cab as well and although I love B cabs, the A just gives me more (the angle-duh  ). I've cleaned up the ripped tolex a bit and took some shine cut to it and although it's beat, the tolex looks bright and new. The grill cloth on the other hand is a lost cause and that's on my list of rig projects over the next few months.

It's a JCM 900 A cab loaded with an x pattern of 2) celestion cl80 and 2) celestion heritage 30 anniversary's. It also has a solid cables wiring harness kit, and i acoustically treated the back panel with a small piece of an auralex diffusor panel. I also went through the whole cab and tightened everything up so it was solid and installed new heavy duty casters. Cab sounds killer ..... :D

I love vintage Marshall cabs. Show me the most beat up vintage 4x12 & I'll still buy it!
