Tried that damn mod last night. For those that don't know what it is, it involves moving 1 wire in the preamp, thus cascading the gain stages. This is essentially what is going on in a 2203. Along with the Jose MV it makes the SL a freaking fire-breather. I still need to clean it up, but the tone is great!

i finally learned to bookmark or subscribe to threads over there. somuch good stuff i haven't been able to find again.

i've got a pic somewhere if Vrad doesn't post, i'm supposed to be working or i'd do it now.

That's awesome it's that simple...is it spongey, farty gain?

Yup... You move on wire (hence the name) and attach it to a resistor/capacitor and there you have it. However, like the website mentions, it needs to be refined. The wires need to be shielded to preven squeal. But the raw mod sounds terrific to me. It's got some sponge, and some fart in its basic form. Some tweaking will be necessary to dial it in.
