So the other guitarist in my band plays a DSL and whenever we have our gear in the car his amp makes an obnoxious springy noise over every slight bump or moving it and after a 3 hour ride to a gig it gets on your nerve. I figured it was just a springy tube retainer but I was too lazy to open his amp and fix it, I finally did and alas no springy tube retainer! After a confused hunting around the amp I found it was coming from this giant tank in it which, surprise, is the amp's spring reverb. My Splawn doesn't have any reverb in it so I have no experience with these... Are they this obnoxiously rattly? Is there anything I can do to save us from that sound when traveling with it?

Ha! I gigged with a DSL50 for a year and I know that springy rattle sound well.

yup.. i have a jcm 2000 dsl 100. they make that noise all the time. about all you can do is wrap the head in a packing blanket or a box of some sort and hope to knock the sound level down.. but it's still going to keep doing that.

At least it isn't broken I guess... What a good hardshell head case help muffle it with the foam and all that? Guess we just need to turn the music up a bit more heading out to gigs or convince the guys to find room in the trailer for his head haha

Take the reverb tank out and chuck it. It sucks anyway. Get him a good reverb pedal.

a hardshell case wouldn't hurt. it just depends whether he wants to spend the money on it. if he did get one it should be fine in a trailer.
